Wow! It has been a crazy few days here at School House on the Ridge! ❤️
I’ve had several people ask about the work being done on the schoolhouse and how we are funding everything. As a small, independently operated educational program, we don’t have government funding for our building. Everything we are doing to create this space is being paid for out of pocket. I don’t say that for sympathy—just because several people have asked.
And with that being said…drywall is WAY more expensive than I realized! 😂
Thank you so much to everyone who came out and provided quotes. Drywall is still in the plan, and I will definitely be reaching back out to a company when the time is right.
But just like we teach the students at School House on the Ridge, sometimes we have to work hard for what we believe in.
And by “we,” I mean ME. 🤣
So, I have spent the last several days measuring, cutting, lifting, nailing, priming, and installing OSB on the walls of the schoolhouse.
Am I a contractor? Absolutely not. 😂
Am I learning as I go? ABSOLUTELY!
What I am is someone who is willing to work incredibly hard for something I believe in.
And I believe in School House on the Ridge.
I believe God has gifted me with the ability, heart, and desire to teach children. I believe He has called me to create a place where children can learn differently—to meet them where they are, help them grow, get their hands dirty, care for animals, explore, ask questions, build confidence, and discover just how capable they really are.
So, with less than a week before our day sessions and classes begin, I have put on yet another hat…
✨ Contractor Extraordinaire! ✨
Okay…maybe not extraordinaire just yet. But I am trying! 🤣
School House on the Ridge is a work in progress. It is a labor of love. It is a dream becoming reality one board, one nail, one gallon of paint, and one prayer at a time.
When we begin September 21, we won’t have the bathroom or kitchen completed YET. But we WILL have a schoolhouse. We will have our farm and animals. We will have learning. We will have laughter. And most importantly, we will have a heart for children and a mission I truly believe God placed on my heart. ❤️
I also want to say a very special THANK YOU to those who donated paint after our newly purchased 5-gallon bucket met a very sad and unfortunate end. 😭😂
And an especially big thank-you to Sherwin-Williams in Pace for offering to help us with the supplies we need at a substantial discount. That kindness means more than you know!
They say, “It takes a village.”
Well, our village has shown up. ❤️
To everyone who has donated, helped, encouraged, shared our posts, offered advice, checked on me, or supported School House on the Ridge—and especially those who have prayed for us—THANK YOU.
We are almost there.
September 21…here we come! 🐐🐷🦆🐓🌱📚❤️
