Introducing Project Feed the Families!

I’m so excited to introduce Project Feed the Families, a special initiative through Abbie’s Helping Hands focused on helping families in need. My goal is to make sure families have access to meals, snacks, and a little extra support during times when things may be difficult.

With the holiday season approaching, I also hope to help bring some Christmas joy to children by providing toys and gifts to families who may otherwise struggle to afford them.

I’ve created a GoFundMe to help make this project possible, and every donation, no matter the amount, will help me get closer to reaching my goal. If you’re unable to donate, sharing the fundraiser would mean just as much!

A little about me and Abbie’s Helping Hands!

Hi everyone! My name is Abbie, and I’m the founder of Abbie’s Helping Hands. I wanted to share a little about myself and the heart behind this organization.

I love cooking, teaching, English, spending time with the people I love, and, of course, my dogs and cats! I’ve always had a passion for helping others, whether through tutoring, fundraising, or simply being there for someone who needs a little extra support.

Over the years, I’ve tutored for years, organized numerous fundraisers, helped dozens of families, and been part of efforts that have provided food for hundreds of people. Those experiences inspired me to take my passion further and find ways to help people on a larger scale.

Through Abbie’s Helping Hands, my goal is to support families in difficult situations. My current project, Project Feed the Families, focuses on providing food, snacks for children, and toys at Christmas to bring a little extra comfort and happiness to families who need it most.

In the future, I hope to attend Miami University and study International Studies and Education, possibly Social Work, so I can go wherever I’m needed and make a difference in people’s lives.

I may still be young, but I have big dreams and a heart for helping others. I believe you don’t have to wait until you have everything figured out to make a difference.

Thank you to everyone who supports my journey, shares my posts, donates, or simply takes the time to follow along. Every little bit of kindness means so much to me, and I’m excited to see how much good I can do, one family at a time.

Student Abbie Marcum hits the books, and the pavement.

Going on four years now, Abbie Marcum, a senior at Talawanda High School, has been dedicating her time and energy to helping other students and families in the district – whether they need a little tutoring, a backpack full of school supplies or help paying dues.

Now, she’s pursuing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status for her organization “Abbie’s Helping Hands,” with the hope that it’ll carry on even after she graduates.

“Creating something that has changed a lot of lives and really has changed mine, too, is almost like a legacy in a way,” Abbie said. “There’s so much that can be done once it’s processed … there’s so many more opportunities.”

📚✏️ BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE ✏️📚

It’s that time of year again! As we prepare for a new school year, we’re excited to help students start the year feeling confident and ready to learn.

We’ll be collecting school supplies through our Walmart and Amazon wish lists, making it easy for anyone who would like to support local students and families. Every notebook, pack of crayons, and backpack can make a meaningful difference.

We are incredibly thankful for this community and your continued generosity. Together, we can help ensure every child begins the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

A friend and I volunteered during the children’s clothing drive at AP Church and spent the day grilling and giving away hot dogs throughout the community. We were able to hand out over 100 hot dogs, and it was amazing to see so many smiles along the way. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back and make a positive impact in our community. It was a wonderful experience, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
