Our last summer picnic book club is this Wednesday! We’ll be discussing The One And Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate, written from the perspective of a gorilla who uses his love of painting to help a friend. 🦍 We’ll also be reading one of my favorite picture books and doing a STEM project to go along with it. 🐙 we’re meeting at Eisenhower Park in Milford. On August 19, we're hosting our final summer book club of the season. It's the last chance to be part of this fun little group before we close out the summer.

Many of you have said how much you've enjoyed being part of our book club picnics so far. We've had great discussions, creative art projects, and some genuinely wonderful conversations.

*Upper Elementary and Middle Schoolers should read The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate in advance so they're ready for the discussion. (It's a pretty quick read, and readily available on audiobook as well as in print.)

🧺 Join us for Summer Picnic Book Club! Last month, our lower elementary kids read a story and floated their origami paper boats in the stream. I can’t wait for the nature art I have planned for this month. 🌱😉 📚 With the older kids, (ages 8-12) will be discussing the hilarious chapter book, Adventures with Waffles. 🧇

We’re excited for Summer Picnic Book Club this Wednesday! We’ll be discussing Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a story rich with Chinese folk tales and a little fantasy, about a girl who discovers the true meaning of fortune. We weren’t able to put it down!

Summer Picnic Book Club:
Wednesday, June 24, at Eisenhower Park in Orange.
11:30 — Story and activity for early elementary
12:30 - Picnic lunch
1:00 — Book Discussion for upper elementary and middle school

Well, that’s a wrap on an amazing year of homeschool classes! It’s such a privilege to work with these curious, creative kids.
At our End of the Year Showcase, we enjoyed student performances, displays of art, science, sewing and writing projects, and even student vendors from our business class.
Yes, I’m terrible about remember to take pictures, but here are the few shots from the evening that I did manage to snag!
I’m so thankful for every family in this amazing community, and am already excited for next year!

Our 3-D Drawing Art class threw a little math in with our art, as we learned how to structure our drawings to make spaces look more realistic. It got challenging sometimes (which is good for the brain!). They did such a great job, and created pieces they were proud of!
