Wide Meadow Homeschool Co-Op

Our 3-D Drawing Art class threw a little math in with our art, as we learned how to structure our drawings to make spaces look more realistic. It got challenging sometimes (which is good for the brain!). They did such a great job, and created pieces they were proud of!

Foundations class lately:
-We made our own clocks to practice telling time,
-learned about Eastern box turtles and made our own “Mossy” turtles based on the book by Jan Brett,
-planted seeds and used paper seeds to practice quickly recognizing addition groups that make 10,
-learned the science behind making slime,
-had a tallest block structure challenge,
-made a 3-D resurrection craft at Easter time, -and we always clean up after ourselves!

Does anyone have paper towel rolls we could use for a class project?

Sometimes teaching homeschool classes means sitting in bed all morning, working on writing a full curriculum because I’m not satisfied with anything I’ve found on the market! This class is going to bring Archimedes to life in a way that will make kids actually excited about math and science! We’re not just going to learn about the foundational principles discovered by this father of science; we’re going to put them into practice with interactive activities every week! Classes have filled up quickly this session, but I still have two spots left for Science with Archimedes. DM me if you’re interested… The class starts this Friday and runs for eight weeks.

In Drama Scene Squad, students 7-12 years old will experience the world of theater by learning a scene from a play, to be performed at the Wide Meadow End-of-the-Year Showcase. Students will gain confidence and performance skills, and have a lot of fun! Comment “Spring” for more info.

Registration is now open for Science with Archimedes! Students will learn about this ancient father of science, and conduct a different one of his experiments each week. (The terrible quality video included in the post is of an Archimedean screw STEM project we’ve done.) Classes are Friday mornings in April and May— comment “Spring” for more info and to register!

Kids will learn 3-D perspective drawing, including vanishing points and how to add more depth and realism to their drawing. Taught by artist and children’s book illustrator Bradleigh Tsironis.
