McGuffey Hall Evolution. Shown here in 1925 (from the Miami University Bulletin) with parts missing. McGuffey Hall emerged slowly in three stages between 1910 and 1924. Its growth was connected to the modernization of Miami’s teacher education program led by the second Dean of the Normal School, Harvey Minnich, a former teacher and superintendent from Darke County, Ohio. Minnich’s leadership included founding the Laboratory School and teaching courses in educational administration.
