This summer, curiosity took center stage.

From mastering new recipes in Rebel Chefs and tackling real-world challenges in Engineering Summer Academy and UM Summer Medical Academy to exploring geology and geological engineering through GEEK and advancing robotics skills in Advanced FTC, students spent their summer turning interests into experiences.

Whether discussing complex issues in Ethical U, preparing for the future with College 101, or taking the next step toward campus life through Ole Miss Bound, participants gained valuable skills, new perspectives, and lasting connections.

The summer may be winding down, but the memories are here to stay.

July was filled with exploration, connection, and unforgettable experiences across our Summer College programs. From diving into new cultures and languages through the Summer Language Institutes to engaging in hands-on learning and STEM Research exploration with ARISE, students spent the month challenging themselves, discovering new interests, and building lasting friendships.

Whether they were developing new skills, exploring campus, or stepping outside their comfort zones, each student helped make this summer one to remember.

Deadline approaching!!

The LOU Youth Symphony is designed for students in 7th–12th grade who want to strengthen their orchestral skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment.
Led by Dr. Armee Hong and conducted by Dr. Selim Giray and Dr. Morreale, students receive expert instruction, sectional coaching, and advanced musicianship training to help them grow as performers and musicians. The season culminates in a concert showcasing each musician’s growth, beautiful tone, musical expression, and technical abilities.

Where: Choir Room of the UM Music Building
When: Wednesdays
Time: 5:30–7:00 p.m.

Students must provide their own instruments. Please note, if you're a returning student (from the 2025-2026 season), no audition is required.

Deadline approaching!

The Oxford String Project (OSP) welcomes students in 3rd–6th grade who are ready to explore the exciting world of strings. Whether your child plays violin, viola, cello, or bass, OSP provides a fun, engaging environment where students can build confidence, develop new skills, and make music with friends.

Under the guidance of Dr. Armee Hong, students receive instruction in string performance while also learning the fundamentals of musicianship, including reading, writing, singing, and harmonizing music.
Where: UM Music Building
When: Wednesdays
Time: 4:00–5:00 p.m.

From their first notes to their final performance, students will grow as musicians and shine in a concert that showcases their hard work, beautiful tone, and musical artistry.
