Graduates and Families of the Class of 2025,
We are almost there! We are looking forward to celebrating together and wishing our soon-to-be alumni well as they move on from the halls of OHS. We just want to remind graduates and their families of some important timelines for commencement this Wednesday, May 21st. Because this ceremony and practice involve many moving parts, it is important to be on time.
(Students and Staff) 9:00 AM - Commencement practice at Willman Field. The stadium will be open for students and staff that are involved in the ceremony. Students may enter the stadium and sit in any of the chairs on the field initially. Caps and Gowns are NOT required at practice. Please dress for the weather. If weather conditions warrant, practice may be delayed or relocated to the OHS gymnasium. Please consult OHS and OPS social media sites for updates or changes.
(General Public) 6:00 - Gates open at Willman Field. Many families frequently arrive early to "reserve" seating at 6:00 for the ceremony. Most commonly, families set blankets on the bleachers. We ask that families doing so please refrain from using adhesive tape to attach blankets to the bleachers at Willman Field. Guests with handicapped placards on their vehicle and OHS/OPS staff will be allowed to park inside of the stadium on the East (visiting team) side. Please allow yourself ample time to park, as available street parking may be several blocks from the stadium.
(Graduates) 6:30 - We ask graduates to arrive at Willman Field and assemble behind the scoreboard at the south end of the stadium. At 6:45 PM, we will begin organizing students for the processional march. At the conclusion of the ceremony, you may pick up your yard signs to keep, and a folder that contains important documents, including instructions on ordering your official graduation photos.
(ALL Graduates and Guests) - Following the recessional, when all graduates have exited the "Teacher Tunnel" at the conclusion of the ceremony, you are welcome to enter the field area for photos, hugs, and high-fives.
***Seating for Handicapped Guests - Initially, we are reserving seating on the field, directly in front of the bleachers for handicapped family members along with ONE guest. Once we have determined that ALL handicapped family members have preferred seating, staff may be able to open up additional seats.
Thank you and, GO TROJANS!
