This is still in the works and won’t start until May 2028, but it’s exciting to see that our future graduates can work to achieve a Seal of Fine Arts at graduation!

In the meantime, if you are a high school art student you could help design what the SEAL will look like. Take a look and be sure to talk to Mrs. Bayless' Art Class as well.

Exciting things for Missouri and the Fine Arts!

OMS Weekly Student Shout Outs

We see you, and the little things go a long way. Thank you for helping to make OMS a great place!

Jayce Haeusser - A student in front of Jayce dropped his lunch tray, and Jayce helped the Cafeteria staff clean up the mess!

Mason Nowack - Mason cleaned up his lunch table after all of his friends left without being asked. He also helped another student with their lunch box.

Easton Geisler - Easton has been coming to class prepared, focusing on his work, and getting his assignments completed.

Addy Newbound - Addy helped a group of students out on the first day of school who were struggling with the activity. She made sure the group was able to complete the activity and understood how to do it. The activity was to make the longest paper chain using teamwork.

Christian Brand - Christian and another student participated in the rock, paper, scissors tournament and showed great sportsmanship by shaking hands before they battled.

Elijah Ghormley - Elijah and another student demonstrated great sportsmanship during a rock, paper, scissors tournament before they battled by shaking hands.

Christian Brand - Helping a fellow student learn a new instrument.

Asher Weppner - Asher has been prepared for class and is doing a great job of managing being a part of both intermediate and advanced bands. He has been a great role model for our younger band students.

Judson Palmer - Judson and his brother held the door open for a teacher coming into their room with their hands full.

Bowen Palmer - Bowen and his brother held the door open for a teacher coming into their room with their hands full.

What an amazing honor for our own Jayden Hubbard! We know she is going to rock this position!! 🖤🧡

Congratulations are in order for incoming OHS Senior Jayden Hubbard! She was selected as one of the Missouri Art Education Association State Student Art Ambassadors.

Jayden is incredibly active in the Arts here at OHS and in our community. At OHS she is the incoming Art Club/NAHS (National Art Honor Society) President, the President for Troubadours, the Secretary for the Drama Club and Thespian Troupe, and the Mellophone Section Leader in Band. Additionally, she works with the Owensville Arts Council and is even playing the leading role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz that you can see at the Owensville Community Theater this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Check out what the following people had to say on Jayden:

Jessie Bayless, OHS Art Teacher
"Jayden is an all around Arts student. She excels in everything she does! Her perseverance and passion for learning has always set her apart. She is a wonderful inspiration and such a dedicated advocate for all the arts! Your leadership voice at the state student visual art table will be so impactful!"

Kaye West, Owensville Arts Council Theatre Director
“Jayden is a delight to work with at the community theater. It doesn’t matter whether she has a small role or a major role in our plays, Jayden gives it her best effort. Currently, she is our Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. This role requires not only acting, but also some singing and a little bit of dancing. Jayden is fantastic with every aspect of that character!”

Bethanie Ward, OHS/OMS Vocal Choirs Director
"I am so thrilled for Jayden being selected as a State Student Art Ambassador by MAEA! Jayden is entering her third year in Troubadours and has been a foundational member of this ensemble both as a singer and a leader. She has pushed herself to become a better singer and musician while encouraging others in the ensemble to do their best at all times. Jayden leads by example both in and out of the classroom. I am excited to see her take on the role of choir president this year within our own classroom as well as her other roles in the arts here at OHS, in the community, and now at the state level. Jayden is truly a wonderful young person and I think she is going to thrive in this new position!"

Adrienne Gonzalez, Former OHS Drama/Theatre Director and current OES Assistant Principal
"Jayden is an exceptional student both on and off the stage. She has a remarkable ability to meet every challenge with confidence, grace, and an unwavering work ethic. No matter what is asked of her, I know she'll not only rise to the occasion, but she'll exceed expectations."

Owensville Choirs and Owensville Middle School and Owensville High School were represented well last night with the Missouri Choral Directors Association Summer All-State Honor Choirs!

Adre and Ale Leach (incoming OMS Honor Members) performed an excellent concert with the 4th-6th grade choir (we were sad to be missing Ansel Winter).

Brahm Winter, Saje Zelch, and Christian Brand worked very hard with a world-renowned director to present a truly memorable performance with the 7th-8th grade choir.

Levi Stoker and Eleanor Spurgeon put in time and effort both Monday evening and all of Tuesday to prepare for their performance, which was executed beautifully.

It was a true joy to see them and to watch them learn and grow in their musicianship during this experience and we can’t wait to have even more Owensville students join them next summer! These students will also come back with rehearsal and performance skills enhanced and ready to help our ensembles achieve even more this next year!

Oh, and young Caysin Brand enjoyed it so much he exclaimed that he was also going to sing in choir with Mrs. Ward, so obviously we had to get a picture together too! 🖤🧡

Congrats again to all of these students and well done!

I didn’t get a chance to get a group picture this morning (working registration table and it was busy) but I was able to snag a snippet of the 7th-8th grade All-State Honor Choir rehearsal. This is after only about 30 minutes of being together! 🤯 Our very own Christian Brand, Brahm Winter, and Saje Zelch are a part of this ensemble…and based on what I’m hearing it was very competitive to get in, so they have a lot to be proud of for making this ensemble!

Stay tuned for more!

The Missouri Choral Directors Association annual conference began today and with it the summer All-State Honor Choirs too.

Rehearsals for the 9th-10th Grade All-State Choir began this evening and our very own Eleanor and Levi were there and ready to go! Tomorrow we will see our middle school singers before the concert tomorrow night.

Stay tuned for more!

Oh….and it was really nice seeing these two and hearing about their summers. I’ve missed these students!
