Meet Pip!
Pip was found in the street this morning by a Kroger employee that knew he couldn’t leave him behind, so he picked him up and brought him along to work.
Since they collect cans for us, they already had our contact information and immediately reached out.
The employees had noticed he wasnt bearing weight on his front leg and had a wound above his lip and wouldn’t eat when they offered him food. After further examination we noticed his bottom jaw was broken. ❤️‍🩹
Pip has been started on pain meds, is in foster care and will see the vet tomorrow to check the full extent of his injuries.

He will need to be on a soft diet for the foreseeable future while his mouth heals, so if you’d like to contribute to the puree fund, there are several options on our wishlist linked below. 🥹🥰

As always, all adoptions are free to approved indoor homes, and all kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and utd on their flea/tick prevention.

We don't even have words for the last 24 hours we've had....

As many of our community members know, a plea was made in Owensboro Chat about a community cat that was bleeding from her nose and in labor. Our assistant director, Natalie, sprang to action late last night to get momma veterinary care asap. Luckily for our organization, we are made up of several individuals from the veterinary industry, so momma received fluids and her vitamin K injection late last night. She received care early this morning in collaboration with Daviess County ITV, who had a vet on staff today to see her. This sweet girl was poisoned by someone in our community. She was poisoned and pregnant.... By the time our organization was able to get to her, she had already had one kitten in the middle of the yard, delivered the second one in the transport vehicle, and delivered a dead one later that night.

Despite medical intervention, she passed away in a foster home about an hour ago.... Devastated doesn't even begin to describe it. We are disgusted. We are appalled. We are disappointed.

If you intentionally murder innocent animals, may the deepest darkest depths of hell open up and consume you. Only a miserable, nefarious, vile shell of a human could do something like this and sleep at night.

Please be mindful that our team is mourning and trying to answer every tag/message/email/text about cats/kittens in need. We have to deal with heavy things like this weekly and keep going for the ones that still need us ❤️‍🩹

Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) is a name for community-based programs that spay and neuter free-roaming cats. This helps to keep the unhoused cat population under control, thereby reducing the amount of suffering and disease.

We NEED more equipment😭 Daviess County TNR works directly with the shelter to ensure no healthy cats are being euthanized simply for being feral. Our TNR efforts continue to grow and grow, and so have our equipment needs.

What do these do?
Why the heck are the so expensive?

These provide unsocialized/feral/semi feral cats and kittens with a safe space within their kennel to hide. They can also be used to safely transport, transfer and release cats without handling them or stressing them out further (which matters when dealing with cats of all kinds!) They are easy to use and sanitize for our team.

They are expensive😮‍💨 The company that sells them is definitely proud of their product. These are specialized animal handling boxes, and that's the only explanation I have as to why they are so expensive.

These boxes help safely handle cats, provide them with certain needs, and allow us to maximize our life saving efforts.

Say hello to our baby beans🥺 Their story is heartbreaking, but of course we have to continue working through the sadness to save their lives.

A community member decided to throw them away. Literally..... a very nice man found them amongst garbage....... To say we are disappointed in this community is a huge understatement. We're disgusted.

These beautiful babies have an experienced bottle feeder willing to foster them🫶🏻 Unfortunately, that's only the beginning of their journey.

Now, we need formula, potty pads, blankets, and bottle ni***es to keep their incredible foster momma going❤️ All these items have been added to our Amazon wishlist, PLEASE donate if you can. Raising kittens is a financial nightmare and spaying a cat is cheaper than a single box of canned kitten food (but I guess our community members don't care about that )

Please send good vibes for Miss Marlow today!
When our assistant director picked her up, she believed her to be pregnant.
Last night when she got home, to her shock and horror, she found Marlow showing signs of pyometra.
Pyometra is an infection in the uterus that is guaranteed to be fatal if left untreated.

Thankfully Marlow already had her spay scheduled for today, and our incredible clinic staff are waiting to move her to the front of the line for surgery and supportive care when our assistant director arrives with her.

We often get asked why we recommend to spay anyway, and this is just ONE of MANY reasons why. Until the situation became emergent, even an experienced rescuer was unable to tell the difference between a normal pregnancy and the ticking time bomb that is pyo. 💔

Every death caused by and every case of pyometra are 100% avoidable by a simple spay. The uterus cannot be infected if it does not exist.
To prevent more suffering in kitties like Marlow,
spay and neuter your cats, your neighbors’ cats, your friends’ cats, and especially your community cats. 🫶🏻
