The OWEGO VOLLEYBALL team improved to 7-0 with back-to-back victories over Horseheads, 3-2, and Norwich, 3-0, on Wednesday & Thursday.

Horseheads is the first team to win a set against the River Hawks this season. The Blue Raiders won the first two sets, 25-21 & 26-24, but Owego regrouped and dominated the third set, 25-8, then took the next two, 25-12 & 15-11.

Braelea McLaren registered23 kills to go with 9 digs, 2 aces & an assist; and Payton Newman handed out 33 assists along with 2 kills, 8 digs & 2 aces. Macey Shaw had 6 assists, 5 digs & a kill; Ava McKeon recorded 3 kills, 3 blocks, 4 digs & 2 aces; Ella Gilliland added a dozen digs; Joslynn Space chipped in with 2 kills & a block; Emme Bennett had 9 digs; Izzy Herceg contributed 6 kills & 11 digs; Rylie White had 7 kills, 10 digs & an ace; & Taylor Talbut tacked on a kill & a dig.

Against Norwich, the River Hawks won by scores of 25-6, 25-13 & 25-18.

Newman dished out 13 assists & had 4 digs & 2 aces; Shaw had four assists & 6 digs; McLaren contributed 6 kills, 2 digs & an ace; McKeon pitched in with 3 kills, a block, an assist, an ace & 2 digs; Herceg posted 3 kills, 3 assists, 2 digs & an ace; Space had 2 kills and a block; Bennett added a kill, an assist and a dig; White had 3 kills, 2 digs & an ace; Taylor added 3 kills & Gilliland tacked on 2 assists & 4 digs.

Also contributing for Owego were Bella Beams & Alyssa Harrington with 3 kills, 2 digs and 1 ace apiece; Gracie Zimmer 3 digs & 2 aces; Laila Mister with an ace & a dig; Mikaela Nichols with 2 digs & an ace; and Olivia Deming with a block.

Owego will host its annual tournament on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.
