Mowing part of the yard when it’s hot out was brutal today. 🥵

Which do you prefer, dry heat or humidity with it?

For me, I prefer the humidity! When we lived in Cali I passed out twice from the dry heat. I believe it was heat exhaustion. No breeze and stagnant hot air is the worst! Those summer would get up to 115 degrees or more some days.

Here in NE Oklahoma and where I grew up in north Texas, it’s hot for sure, but that humid air and wind helps a little. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃

Raising kids who know how to serve starts in the little things.

Noticing when someone needs help.
Letting someone else go first.
Choosing kindness when it would be easier to ignore.

Service doesn’t have to be loud to be faithful. And our kids learn it best when they see it lived out in front of them.

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:4

Yess! 💯

This isn’t happening loudly anymore.

A lot of parents aren’t making dramatic announcements. They aren’t writing long posts. They aren’t trying to convince everyone else to homeschool.

They’re just quietly opting out.

Quietly pulling their kids from environments that feel increasingly chaotic, over-screened, over-tested, under-disciplined, and disconnected from actual learning.

Many of these families never imagined they’d homeschool.

They just reached a point where staying felt harder than leaving.

Tea tag of the day:
It is the light in the lantern which shows you the path, not the lantern.

That makes me think about how easy it is to focus on the messenger, the platform, the personality, the church, the curriculum, the pastor, the teacher...and forget to ask where the light is coming from.

As Bereans, we're called to look beyond the lantern and pay attention to the light.

The goal isn't to listen to other people.
The goal isn't to follow a particular influencer.
The goal isn't to find others to do our thinking for us.

The goal is to follow Christ! 💯

People can point us toward truth, but they aren’t the source of truth.

That's why we search the Scriptures.
That's why we test what we hear.
That's why we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

A good lantern is helpful. But it's the light that shows the way.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105

One thing I keep coming back to is this, our kids don’t just need quick answers…they need to learn how to search well.

Because the world is loud. Everybody has an opinion. Everybody has a “truth.” And if we’re not careful, we can accidentally teach our kids to just accept the loudest voice in the room.

But our homes should be different. We want our kids to pause. To think. To ask. To open Scripture. To test what they hear against God’s Word. Just like the Bereans did!

Not in a prideful “prove everybody wrong” kind of way, but in a humble “Lord, help me understand what is true” kind of way…🩷
