Upper Bucks Empty Bowls The Empty Bowls Project is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.

An Empty Bowls luncheon is an event held to raise money to help end hunger. In a nutshell, patrons enjoy a simple lunch provided by area restaurants in handcrafted bowls donated by local artists and students. All funds raised are donated to the local food pantry. We hope to hold our first Upper Bucks Empty Bowl in the fall of 2016.

The 2026 Upper Bucks Empty Bowl Supper originally scheduled for March 6th has been postponed until mid-autumn of this year. In the meantime, please continue to support your local food pantry. The Lord’s Pantry in Ottsville is in most need of the following items:

Canned meats, vegetables, pasta, juice boxes, apple, grape or other fruit juices, tuna fish, canned fish (tune, salmon, whiting, shrimp) peanut butter, chunky soups, rice, spaghetti sauce, pasta, tea, coffee, crackers, cereal, jello, puddings, sugar, cake mixes, Gatorade, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, tooth paste, tooth brush, shampoo, liquid or bar soap, baby wipes, baby powder, baby shampoo, disposable diapers, baby formula, baby food, band aids.

PANTRY HOURS: Monday 2pm – 5pm / Tues. 9:30am – 11:30am / Thurs. 9:30am – 1:30

Thank you to the Palisades Community Foundation for hosting our event, and thank you to Cathy Leidtke for managing the food pantry! Please keep The Lord’s Pantry in Ottsville in mind for your charitable donations. Every little bit helps to fight hunger in our community. Some additional donations came in after my last post so the final amount donated came to $2,390! Thank you everyone who participated. I hope to have another next spring.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the many people who made our empty bowl supper a success. We sold 98 bowls and raised a total of $2285 for The Lord’s Pantry in Ottsville. Without your help, I truly couldn’t do it all. Thank you to Ms Sunday, her ceramics students, and all the other artists who donated their beautiful, handmade bowls. Thank you to the restaurants and individuals who donated the soups to fill them: & Diane Alex. Thank you to the many volunteers who spent their Friday evening setting up, serving, and cleaning up afterwards. Thank you to Mr Hong & for performing for us. Your music transforms the evening into a magical experience. If you enjoyed their music, come to their spring concert next Thursday, May 22, 7pm in the Palisades HS auditorium. Thank you to for securing our venue & the Palisades Community Foundation for hosting us. Thank you to the people who took pictures and texted them to me so I could make this post. 😅 I look forward to having another in 2026. Watch this account for updates. Thank you all!

We have a new soup donor! Kimberton Whole Foods Cafe will donate their hearty turkey chili to our supper this Friday! Kimberton Whole Foods’ Ottsville Café and Gift Shop, right next door to their natural grocery store, offers specialty coffee drinks, grab-and-go meals, houseplants, and locally made, fair-trade gifts. They’re open 8am-8pm Monday through Saturday, Sundays 8-6.

I’m excited to announce that Hagan’s Restaurant & Bar will be donating their popular sunchoke bisque (vegetarian) for our supper next Friday! Hagan’s is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner at 1274 Easton Rd. in Riegelsville, PA. Thank you for joining in this cause! Amanda’s Riverside Cafe has offered to make their classic tomato bisque again this year for our May 9th supper. Thank you, Amanda! I couldn’t wait until then, so I made myself a bowl of Campbell’s to tide me over. ;) The 2025 Upper Bucks Empty Bowl Supper will be held on Friday, May 9, from 5:30-7:30pm at the Palisades High School in Kintnersville, PA and benefits the Lord’s Food Pantry in Ottsville, PA. Until then, check out Amanda’s Riverside Cafe and thank them for helping us out. Amanda’s is a family restaurant located along scenic River Rd in Erwinna, PA. They’re open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8am-3pm.
