Many people come to see a relationship with the divine as if it were a performance—like an animal doing tricks for a reward. Others take sacred warnings, meant to inspire inner change, and turn them outward, using them to control, judge, or diminish others in an effort to stand as gatekeepers of God.
But neither posture reflects love of God or neighbour.
Love does not build barriers. It does not demand performance to grant belonging. A relationship with God reduced to conditions and control misses the very nature of divine love. True love seeks not to exclude, but to lift up—to draw others into fullness, not hold them at a distance.
God, who loved us first, desires our growth not for His benefit, but for ours. And so Jesus and the Holy Spirit are given not as gatekeepers, but as guides—drawing us inward and upward toward the source of Love.
Through metanoia, a turning of the heart, and theosis, the lifelong unfolding into the divine image, we are not earning God’s love—we are awakening to it, and being transformed by it.
