See the latest event posting to register for this year's Dr. Samuel Kahn Memorial Lecture. The event is virtual via Zoom and there is a link on the post below to sign up. The lecture is open to the public and can be used for Continuing Education credit for CSWs. However, you do not need to be a CSW but you will need to check the CE box to agree to the terms and conditions.

Stacey Fast informed us that Elaine Fast passed away on Sunday December 8, 2024 at just short of 90 years. Update: I spoke with Stacy; the family will have a private ceremony.

The Dr. Samuel Kahn 2024 Memorial Lecture

The next Memorial lecture will be held on March 21 2024 from noon - 1:00 pm via Zoom. The topic is Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) Therapy, an approach that can help parents to manage violent, destructive, and/or controlling behavior of their children without using physical or verbal aggression.

Non-Violent Resistance Therapy (NVR) is an approach that helps parents to manage the violent, destructive, and/or controlling behavior of their children. NVR encourages parents to make a stand against violent or destructive behavior from their child, without using physical or verbal aggression.

If you are interested in researching the papers of Dr. Samuel Kahn, psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, physician, and author, they are available at the Oskar Diethelm Library of Weill Cornell Medical College.
There are five series in the collection; Lectures, documents from the Dynamic Psychological Society (DPS), documents from Quakerbridge School and Camp (QB), Printed Materials distributed by QB, journal articles, as well as documents from the activities of Quakerbridge School and Camp, and the DPS, and writings.

The documents are available by visiting the library in person. They are neither digitized nor posted online.

Michael David Weissner, a former camper at Quakerbridge, passed away on June 11, 2023. Michael, lived in Ossining, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pace University, and formed a CPA firm, Weissner & Blick, CPA where he worked for thirty years. Michael was married to Ursula Weissner and has two children, Deborah Rachel Weissner and Berlynn Nicole Weissner.

Professor Eli Lebowitz, PhD, psychologist and director of the Yale Child Study Center will present a lecture on Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions.
• Separation anxiety
• Social anxiety
• Generalized anxiety
• Fears and phobias
• Panic disorder and Agoraphobia
• Selective mutism
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder

Participants will hear information about the program and the research on which it is based.
Participants will hear how they might apply this treatment in their own practices.
