Annual REALM General Membership Meeting – October 28, 2020
(Meeting to Change Name from REALM to LMACVols)
A virtual meeting of REALM will be held by Zoom videoconference beginning at 1:00 pm on October 28, 2020. Unfortunately, unlike at normal in-person General Membership Meetings hosted by Lockheed Martin, you’ll have to provide your own food if you intend to eat. Several items must be voted on:
• Change of name from Retired Employees Association of Lockheed Martin of Central Florida (REALM) to Lockheed Martin Association of Community Volunteers (LMACVols).
• Approval of the Constitution of LMACVols.
• Election of CY 2021 LMACVols officers: The following individuals have agreed to serve if elected:
o Mike Gillett, President
o Tony DiBerardino, Vice-President
o Vicki Gillett, Secretary
o Dave Hayworth, Treasurer.
Additionally, visions for the new LMACVols will be presented and there will be time for questions and answers.
Zoom invitations will be required to attend the meeting. If you intend to attend this important General Membership Meeting, please contact Mike Gillett, REALM Secretary, by email at [email protected] and he’ll provide you with a Zoom invitation. A meeting announcement will be posted on the LMACVols Facebook site along with the proposed new Constitution. If you’ve never used Zoom, instructions will be issued and a Zoom practice session will be scheduled before the meeting, if desirable.
Hope to see you there.

Before the United States Navy puts equipment aboard its vessels, it normally is subjected to a shock test series nicknamed “The Barge Test”. A limited number of us have been there to witness this testing, which is normally done in an old quarry placing depth charges at predetermined depths and distances to a barge holding the equipment under test.
The attached video doesn’t do full justice to the extreme punishment the equipment sees from multiple shock waves induced by each blast. For those of you who have seen it or had to design for it, please enjoy the attached video.
TIS Barge Test
This is shot 4R, the last of 4 shock test the United States Navy requires for shipboard equipment. The test was run in June of 2001 in Virginia.

The REALM luncheon scheduled to be held at the Catfish Place in St. Cloud on July 14 has been postponed indefinitely. The restaurant has insufficient space in its dining room to host our group and meet the state’s distancing requirements. It will be rescheduled when the state’s distancing requirements are removed.
