I've been asked about tutoring several times I'm now tutoring in reading on Outschool! This reading tutoring class for 1st and 2nd graders focuses on building strong foundational literacy skills through structured, research-based instruction. Students will strengthen phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension while gaining confidence and independence as readers.

❤️What will be taught?
Learners will receive targeted instruction in essential early reading skills, including:

🌟Phonics patterns (short and long vowels, blends, digraphs, vowel teams)

🌟Decoding and word attack strategies

🌟Reading fluency (accuracy, pacing, and expression)

🌟Vocabulary development and context clues

🌟Reading comprehension skills such as main idea, sequencing, story elements, and making predictions

❤️How is the class structured?
Each session follows a consistent routine to support growth and confidence:

🌻Warm-up phonics or sight word review

🌻Direct mini-lesson on a targeted skill

🌻Guided reading practice with immediate feedback

🌻Comprehension discussion and skill application

🌻Closing review and goal-setting

🌻Lessons are tailored to learners’ reading levels, and skills build progressively over time.

❤️How will I teach?
I use explicit, systematic instruction combined with interactive practice. Students learn through a mix of direct teaching, guided reading, slides, visual supports, games, and discussion. I provide corrective feedback, modeling, and scaffolded support to ensure understanding.

❤️Teaching Style & Interaction
My teaching style is structured, supportive, and engaging. I prioritize encouragement and confidence-building while maintaining clear academic goals. Learners will interact frequently through reading aloud, answering comprehension questions, participating in games, and engaging in discussion. This is not a lecture-style class; students are actively involved throughout each session.

This class is ideal for emerging or struggling readers who need consistent practice, skill reinforcement, and a positive learning environment to make measurable progress.

Our "Feelings & Calm Bodies" virtual Zoom lesson is coming up, and it’s designed to help preschoolers learn how to identify big feelings and practice calming their bodies in a gentle, supportive way 💙

During this session, children will:
✨ Talk about their feelings
✨ Practice deep breathing and gentle stretches
✨ Learn simple calm-down strategies they can use at home
✨ Feel safe, supported, and confident
