Every day, when we face challenges, the question is asked:

To whom shall we go?

Do we go to the One who has the words of eternal life?

Or do we run to the vices and empty pleasures of the world?

When life presses on us, the first step is simple:

Go to Jesus.

Memorial Day reminds us that self-sacrifice is one of the highest expressions of love.
Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
This love is first revealed perfectly in Christ, who gave Himself for us. But the call to imitate Him in sacrificial love belongs to every Christian. Today, we honor the men and women of our armed forces who answered that call with extraordinary courage, giving their lives in service to others.
May we remember them with gratitude, pray for their souls, and strive to live with the same spirit of self-giving love.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
God spoke those words to His people in exile, far from home, waiting for restoration. It was a promise. And God still speaks that same hope into our own exiles: into grief, rejection, loneliness, and the long road home.
God spoke hope in exile, and still speaks hope in ours.

The Ascension of Jesus was actually Him completing His mission of salvation. Through His Ascension, three things happened:

1. He prepared a place for us (Jn 14:2)
2. He now intercedes forever as our High Priest before the Father (Heb 7:25; 9:24)
3. The Holy Spirit was sent to help and guide us (Jn 16:7)

Why did Jesus stay 40 days with the Apostles before His Ascension? The number 40 often marks a time of testing and preparation as with Noah, Israel in the wilderness, and Jesus fasting in the desert.

Jesus was preparing his Apostles for their upcoming mission. As the saying goes, God does not call the equipped; He equips those He calls.

Forty days after the Resurrection, Christ ascended in glory before His apostles, taking His rightful place at the right hand of the Father. As Acts records: “And when He had said this, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight” (Acts 1:9). The Ascension is the triumph of the risen King, the fulfillment of the promises of Scripture. The same Jesus who walked among them in humility now reigns in majesty.

In the Ascension, our Lord carries His glorified human nature into eternity, opening the way for His people to follow Him. The apostles left the Mount of Olives with joy because Christ’s reign continues over His Church, His grace continues through the sacraments, and His promise remains true: “I am with you always, to the close of the age” (Mt 28:20).

Yes, baptism is regenerative and necessary for salvation.

Scripture teaches this.
John 3:5
Acts 2:38
Titus 3:5
1 Peter 3:21
Acts 22:16
Romans 6:3–4

The Bible never says that baptism is just an expression of faith. If only a symbol, why is then does Scripture say it washes away sins? Baptismal regeneration is documented in the Bible. If the Bible says baptism washes, regenerates, saves, and unites us to Christ, then calling it “just a symbol” is not biblical enough.

Saints Nereus and Achilleus were Roman soldiers who abandoned worldly honor rather than deny Jesus Christ. Tradition holds that after converting to the Christian faith, they rejected violence, suffered persecution, and were ultimately martyred for their fidelity to Christ. The Church venerates them because they bore witness with their lives and deaths that no earthly power is greater than the Kingdom of God.
