🚨 OCPS E-Bike & E-Scooter Update
Hello Parents,
The Orange County Public School Board reached a consensus today to move forward with new restrictions on e-bikes and e-scooters.
If the policy is officially approved at the July 28 School Board meeting, it will take effect when school begins on August 11.
Under the proposed policy:
•⁠ ⁠🚫 K–8 students (including Luminary Middle School) will not be permitted to ride e-bikes or e-scooters onto campus.
•⁠ ⁠🚲 High school students may only bring an e-bike or e-scooter to campus if they are licensed drivers.
This is not yet final. The School Board is expected to take the official vote on July 28.
We wanted to make families aware so they have time to plan for the upcoming school year.

Hello Parents,
I wanted to share something that may be of interest to many of us at Luminary Middle.
The OCPS School Board held a work session on July 7 to discuss e-bike safety for the upcoming school year. While no decisions were made during the meeting, the discussion suggests there may be support for banning e-bikes and e-scooters at K–8 schools, along with implementing restrictions for high school students.
