Department of Words

For the month of June, a portion of revenue from the Department of Words will be donated to help fund pediatric cancer research. I encourage everyone to take a look at this site and to donate if they have the means to do so - http://www.thetruth365.org/

The idea to help support childhood cancer research came from pages such as Infinite Love for Natalie Grace and Prayers for Adam Buiko - these are friends of friends of mine with young children who have been forced to battle cancer.

We need to support children who are facing this monster and the families who are currently watching their child go through this, and those who have lost their children. We need to spread the word so that we can make a difference. You don't have to be a doctor to make a change. Remember, words are power.

Thinking of everyone in Boston

Happy for Renee Gladstone to now be a part of the small, but growing team at the Department of Words. Many seemed to think that a writing business started by a 26 year old was some sort of temporary venture that would eventually fail. As a person who really isn't business-savvy, I brought on my first freelancer within 3 months of starting up because of the increasing workload, landed a fairly steady client base within 6 months (without the use of any paid advertising), and increased earnings by 400% within a year. No one should be discouraged when it comes to doing the work that they want to do, no matter how many people tell them that it "isn't good enough", or to "find a real job." Combine something that makes you happy with the ability to make a living. Use any discouragement as fuel, and always appreciate those who support you.
