The team has finally begun building "Dusty", check out this photo of the frame. This piece is made of slotted 8020 aluminum. Kelly and Kevin I. are working on the command structure for the motors on the wheels, conveyor belt using an Xbox controller. Max and Didier are hard at work building the other mechanical components like custom composite wheels. Kevin C. is assembling the computer for "Dusty" to give it the thinking power it needs to win the competition. Look for more photos and updates as the Lunar Knights prepare the robot for the senior design showcase on April 18th!

Hello everyone and thank you for supporting the Lunar Knights, the first team to represent the University of Central Florida at NASA's Fifth Annual Robotic Mining Competition. The competition is from May 21-23, 2014 and will feature University teams from all over competing to be the best. The goal of this competition is to design and build an autonomous robot that will dig up, store, and deposit lunar regolith (A.K.A. BP-1) which simulates the Moon's actual surface material. This page in conjunction with our website will keep you updated on the team's progress and some fun facts. I have added a link to NASA's competition site so you can see what the competition is about.
