Wednesday, May 13th - Art & Wellness: Meditation for Peace with Puja
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/art-wellness-meditation-for-peace-with-puja-tickets-568239719297
Art & Wellness Series: We are living in a time of rapid change. External systems that once felt steady – work, technology, relationships, institutions – now feel uncertain. At the same time, many of us are navigating increased isolation, loneliness, and disconnection. A healthy response to this collective discomfort is meditation.
This meditation is a monthly invitation toward inner stability and connectedness. The sessions blend ancient wisdom with modern mindfulness. Each gathering begins with a thoughtful, interactive conversation about real-life experiences such as mental overload, emotional reactivity, sleep challenges, and compassion fatigue, followed by a guided meditation practice.
There is profound value in coming together to meditate, especially in these times. Practicing in community reminds us of our shared humanity and helps normalize experiences often held in shame or self-blame. When we sit together, perspectives widen, and self-regulation organically creates co-regulation.
This is an invitation to reconnect – with yourself and with others. The intention is not to offer answers, but to support your own inner wisdom and capacity for steadiness.
This space is especially welcoming for those who have “struggled” with meditation in the past. Bring an open mind and heart, and feel free to bring a friend.
Please note: this is an alcohol-free event.

The US Postal Service will issue the International Peace Forever® stamp featuring an origami crane, designed by Antonio Alcalá with a photograph by Sally Andersen-Bruce of a crane folded by Sue DiCicco. The stamp, designed for global mail, celebrates the origami crane as a symbol of peace, hope, and healing, with a first-day issuance scheduled for May 27, 2026, in Boston, MA.
Did you know origami cranes are a symbol of peace? 🤍
In Japanese folklore, cranes are mythical creatures representing longevity because they are believed to live for 1,000 years. The practice of folding 1,000 origami cranes— called senbazuru in Japanese — is believed to grant one wish to anyone who completes the task. Now, this auspicious symbol will appear on a Forever® stamp for the first time.

The Fall of Saigon in 1975 marked the end of the Vietnam War and led to the displacement of millions of people across Southeast Asia. Many fled by sea or across land borders under dangerous conditions.
More than 2.5 million Southeast Asian refugees were eventually resettled worldwide, including over one million in the United States. Their experiences reflect the lasting impacts of war, displacement, and resettlement, and created the foundations of a diverse, vibrant, and powerful Southeast Asian American community. Visit the AAPI History Hub to learn more about the Southeast Asian refugee migration and resettlement at the link in bio now.
The Cantonese diaspora built every Chinatown from San Francisco to Sydney. Then a newer wave arrived and rewrote the story. This is part 1.
