๐โจ A Gift of Books for Every Panther! โจ๐
Pine Hills Elementary is incredibly grateful for the generosity of The Giving Shelf, a non-profit founded by Helena Madsen, a sophomore at Lake Highland Prep. On Tuesday morning, February 24, Ms. Gray and Helena Madsen were interviewed on WESH 2 News, highlighting this amazing act of kindness for our school community.
Through The Giving Shelf, $6,500 was donated to the Scholastic Book Fairโs โShare the Fairโ account so that every Pine Hills Elementary student from PreK through 5th grade received a free book of their choice.
During Book Fair week, each student received a Giving Tree bookmark to place in the book they selected. Those books were then purchased through the Share the Fair fund and delivered directly to students in their classrooms, ensuring that every child had the joy of choosing and owning a new book.
Because of this incredible generosity, the impact goes even further. Not only did every child receive a book, but the success of the fair also generated over $8,000 in sales, which means Pine Hills Elementary will receive thousands of additional dollars in Scholastic rewards and book credits to support literacy across our school.
The generosity doesnโt stop there. The Giving Shelf has already begun raising funds to support Pine Hills students again during the Fall Book Fair!
๐๐ Thank you, Helena Madsen and The Giving Shelf, for investing in our students, our readers, and our future!

๐๐ Mid-Year Celebration of Learning Party! ๐๐
On Thursday, January 29, our campus was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated our Mid-Year Celebration of Learning Partyโand it was one to remember!
We were thrilled to welcome a very special guest, the Central Florida Zoo, who brought along amazing animal friends inspired by the book Clementine and the Big Island Adventure. Students were engaged, curious, and absolutely delighted by this unforgettable learning experience.
This celebration honored students who earned their invitation through dedication and consistency in reading by:
๐ Reading and reviewing books
๐ Tracking their progress in the Beanstack app
A huge congratulations goes to Ms. Borjaโs Homeroom Class, who earned a class invitation for having the most Beanstack points to date! ๐๐พ
We also celebrated individual students who reached an incredible milestone by:
โญ Reading over 600 minutes
โญ Reviewing 10 books
โญ Tracking both in Beanstack
We are so proud of our readers and their commitment to learning. Keep turning those pagesโyour hard work truly pays off! ๐๐
