Did a 4 mile run this morning starting at the 3ACR memorial to the original Ironhawk AO on 19th street. From the start of my run to the troop doorstep, it brought me down memory lane and i was happy just reminiscing on the good and bad times here. When I stopped at the troop, it was nostalgic just sharing some fond and crazy memories about Captain Inman and the troop with my running buddy who’s new to the regiment. From his random spur law when he would kick everyone out of the building, his unique and hilarious safety briefings, the late nights and weekends coming in to go find AWOL soldiers, the soldiers he’d have to go to bat for with the n**i CSM we had at the time, the John Wayne moments in the field, NTC, and Iraq, and everything else that made him a “Soldiers Leader”. Before we ran our way back, I paused for a moment and smiled because when I think of Memorial Day and everyone who has gone before us, I think of CPT Inman, SGT Portell, SPC Friese and all the all the others who paid the ultimate sacrifice and how great these people were. Today, drink a beer for them, pray for them & their families, and just remember these great people and the impact they had in our lives. The world is a different place without them, but we strive to become better people because of them and inspire others to do the same because of their legacy and the examples they’ve left behind. Cheers to these brave riflemen and our country.
Attention all Ironhawk Troopers.
We are conducting a 2 hour social media black out at 0900 hrs CST today. This black out is an effort to take time to remember our fallen and to celebrate their lives.
