Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

The 2025-2026 sororal year is almost done and it’s time to celebrate together. Join the Orlando Alumnae Chapter for our End of Year Celebration on June 27, 2026 at Dezerland Park.

Today’s spotlights are Dana Rosser, Orlando Alumnae DST Orlando Alumnae Chapter, Michelle Sumrall, MAC of Delta Sigma Theta 🐘 Macon Alumnae Chapter, and Teri Thompson, SM-LAC of ΔΣΘ Sorority, Inc. Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter.

Thru Thick & Thin is for anyone who has ever loved someone through the struggle of obesity. With education and real stories of triumph and resilience, it reminds us that supporting a loved one through their hardest battle requires courage, grace, and the willingness to show up no matter what.

The Bullied, The Bully, and The Bystander is a thought-provoking story that pulls back the curtain on the private struggles of three teens whose lives collide in ways none of them could have predicted. Raw and deeply human, it challenges readers to look beyond appearances and consider how the weight of unseen battles can shape us all.

OAC’s June Chapter Meeting will be held on Saturday, 6/20/26 at 9:50 a.m. Sorors, if you have recently moved to the Orlando area or recently graduated, come on home to OAC!

Chapter Meetings are typically held the 3rd Saturday of every month from September through June. Meetings start at 9:50 am and business attire is required at all chapter meetings.

New & visiting Sorors are required to verify their membership 72 hours prior to a chapter meeting.

The Orlando Alumnae Chapter exemplifies our thrust of Educational Development by developing programmatic content for the youth in our service area. We do this through our Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, and EMBODI programs.

Our activities aim to develop a positive attitude towards academic excellence, develop a positive attitude towards self, and stimulate enthusiasm about cultural and educational development.
