Talk to your kids about how important it is that the house stays safe and healthy over summer, so that means you all must work together to keep it orderly and clean. If you work together to create a chore list where everyone has some input, you will see much more cooperation. More on Episode 18 of my podcast Our Home Room, on YouTube or Apple Podcasts.

The school year is filled with adult-directed learning. Our kids very rarely get much choice over what, when, why, or how they learn. Loosen the limits on learning over the summer and let THEM choose. Yes, even if that is a new video game or reading a book below their normal level. Everyone values grades over learning- school systems, yes, but parents, colleges, even government funding is tied to grades. So kids have been pressured into also caring about grades over learning.
Students have very little choice over their learning. Adults decide what classes kids need and when to take them, micromanaging virtually every aspect of their schooling, then get mad because students take no ownership. Yeah because they HAVE no ownership.
The whole system needs redesigned from the ground up with STUDENTS in mind. What’s best for them? What do they need and want before they become an adult? Kids show their strengths early on, and if we let them focus more time on what they love in a way that promotes learning and accepts the ups and downs that come with growth, there would be far less cheating.
When Students cheat on Exams — using AI or by any other means — they do so because School Systems value Grades more than Students value Learning.
