As the academic year draws to a close, our staff is committed to fostering a culture of innovation and discovery. We are pleased to report that our guest speaker series has continued to thrive, with industry experts visiting classrooms to share their insights and experiences. Mr. Scott Hartog, a retired Apple executive, recently engaged Mrs. Carsten's 5th-grade students in an interactive lesson on electromagnetism, guiding them in the creation of their own electric motors using batteries, neodymium magnets, copper wire coil loops, and paper clips. This hands-on activity enabled students to grasp fundamental principles of electromagnetism. Meanwhile, Mr. Kyle Simmons, Project Manager for Game and Animation Technology, presented to Mrs. Porter's class, showcasing the exciting career opportunities in game design and animation. He delved into the technological innovations behind video games, military simulations, and theme park attractions, including those at Universal and Disney. In kindergarten , students collaborated in pairs to design and build their own rollercoasters during a STEAM presentation led by Mrs. Natalie Green, who shared her experiences working at Universal Studios and the relevance of STEAM in her career. Through this exercise, kindergarteners developed their understanding of STEAM principles and their applications in real-world industries.
