TIPS on the best way to pet them 👇🏻

1. Approach Calmly: Chickens can be skittish, so approach them calmly and quietly to avoid startling them.

2. Gentle Touch: Use gentle and slow movements when petting them.

3. Avoid Wings and Legs: Chickens are sensitive around their wings and legs.

4. Watch Body Language: Pay attention to their body language. If they seem uncomfortable or try to move away, respect their space.

5. Build Trust: Spend time with them regularly to build trust. Chickens can become more comfortable with handling over time.

6. Respect Personal Space: Just like any animal, chickens have personal space boundaries. Be mindful of this while interacting with them.

STUDENTS:
Chickens are Prey Animals,
not Predators.

Any thing or person who comes from above the chickens will be perceived as a threat to them, even if the object is only a friendly hand that belongs to a person who wants to pet them.

Our chickens appear to relax when I hold them gently with one hand and allow them to wrap their feet around my other hand
(Like a Parrot!)
