☀️🎓 Everglades Correctional Graduation 🎓☀️

Last month, Miami Dade College held the commencement ceremony for incarcerated graduates at Everglades Correctional Facility, with FCHEP’s own Walter Dunn III delivering the keynote address.

Through the Second Chance program at Miami Dade College, incarcerated students have the opportunity to earn bachelor’s degrees while in prison. This program has been a huge success in demonstrating the impact of accredited higher education programs in prison.

Congratulations to all the graduates!

This month, FPEP sponsored 14 in-person UCF faculty and brought another 20 in online from universities across Florida at the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning Summer Institute. Participants interested in becoming part of FPEP engaged in two days of workshops and professional development discussions.

In Fall, we will be expanding into correctional institutions across Florida!

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's FCTL workshop, we look forward to bringing even more Faculty Fellows on board.

Thank you to Literacy Foundation for our 2026 adult literacy grant! Funding received will support our Rehabilitative Justice Writing & Leadership Program.

This program reaches more than 700 incarcerated men, women, and youth each year through weekly college-level writing and communication courses. The funding goes directly to the students who show up every week, ready to learn and ready to grow.

We are so grateful!!! 🧡
