AITA for saying "I don't even know you" when a lady was pestering me about guacamole?

I like to cook/bake/make food, alot of times I'll give some to my friends otherwise I'm eating it forever.

A while back I was on a guacamole kick, when avocados were on sale I'd buy a bunch and make guacamole.

Over the weekend I was out with some friends. My friend "Natalie" brought her friend "Ray" who I've never met before along.

Somehow we started talking about Mexican food and a different friend said that I make really good guacamole. Ray said "oh I love guacamole maybe I'll get to try some someday". I just shrugged and said "yea maybe" because I had zero intention on giving her any but was trying it be nice.

So we were watching basketball and Ray brings it up again "well when do you think you'll be making some guac again?" I said "uhh, I don't know it all depends on avocado prices" she just said "oh ok" or something.

Then when I was leaving and saying goodbye to everyone Ray said "hey let me know when you want to meet up so I can get some of that guacamole ". I said "dude I don't even know you, and it's not like I make it to order I only give it away to my friends if there's extra". She didn't really say anything and I left.

Today Natalie text me and said I was unnecessarily rude and Ray was just trying to be nice and friendly and get to know me. I said it's not "friendly" to keep trying to badger someone into giving you...

AITA for not returning a 100+ year-old heirloom to my deceased wife’s family?

My wife’s great-grandparents were missionaries in China. My wife’s grandmother had a number of keepsakes from their travels, including a beautiful Chinese painting that hung in her house. Ever since childhood, my wife had loved that painting. I remember spending our first Thanksgiving when we were dating at her grandmother’s and her talking about how much she loved it.

About 5 years ago, my wife’s grandmother’s health started to decline. The family (me, wife, wife’s sister and her husband, wife’s father) helped her move into an assisted living facility. Because it was a small apartment, my wife’s grandmother gave many treasured items to her son and grandchildren. Knowing how much my wife liked the painting, her grandmother gave it to us. About a year later, my wife's grandmother passed away. Her will did not mention the painting or any of the other items she gave away during the move.

We hung the painting over our living room couch, and my wife loved it. Tragically, my wife passed away from cancer last month. Due to COVID, we had a very small funeral. It was the hardest Christmas I ever faced, though both her and my family were supportive. It may sound cheesy, but the painting helped. Knowing how much my wife loved it, it helps me to feel like she is still around in spirit when I was sitting on our living room couch by myself.

About a week ago, my wife’s sister came over to pick up a few small items she had lent my wife. She saw the painting, and asked me if I...

Aita for telling my husband he needs to appease his boss and keep his job until after I give birth?

He told me it's okay to post here and ask! My husband hates his job and is looking for a new one. He is really good at his job, but has been protesting by only working from home when usually required to be in office 3 days a week.

His boss mentioned needing to 'transition' if he's unhappy and not willing to budge (offered no support or solutions to my husbands qualms, including getting disrespected (someone literally muted him in a meeting while he was apologizing for being too passionate about doing something), not paid enough, and ignored constantly about his professional opinion that he's hired to give). Husband isn't worried and has applied to jobs, at least one of which he has a connection.

But I am worried because both our health insurance is through him. Over the last 1.5 years I personally had 5 operations and had to go through cancer treatments to reverse endometrial cancer plus IVF treatments because the infertility is what led us to find the cancer. After all this health drama, I am currently 5 weeks pregnant.

I will also be under high risk ob/gyn care once the fertility specialists get me through week 8. It's early, but it took us over a year to get here. I have multiple risk factors going into pregnancy.

He says his field is different than mine and he will be able to get health insurance right away if he switches and it will be just as good as it is now. He says there won't be a wait period (like I've...

AITAH for telling my sister that she chose to have kids and now she has to deal with the consequences, and to stop complaining?

My (24f) sister (29f) started having children right out of highschool. She got pregnant at 18, and our patients and her boyfriend's parents insisted that they get married. They now have five children.

11,6,3,2,1. My sister and I are both close with our parents, and we have family dinners together often. I'm kind of to the point where I'm over it.

My sister has never had a job before, she has no college degree. Her husband barely makes any money. My sister complains that she can never do anything for herself, no one will watch her kids, she has no money, her body is ruined and she can't afford corrective abdominal surgery, etc etc etc.

She is so annoying to be around, and her feral kids are annoying too. Her husband is never around either because he can't stand her at this point. Our parents gave us the talk at 16 and access to contraceptives.

They encouraged us to get an education before settling down. My parents are pretty liberal aside from the fact that they don't think children should be born outside of wedlock. My sister chose to have all of these kids.

She could've gotten an a__rtion at 18 but she wanted a baby. Recently at Christmas she was going on her normal woe is me rant, and I finally just told her to shut up. That I'm tired of hearing her complain all the time.

She then went on a rant about how I 'wouldn't get it' because I have a degree and a good job, and my boyfriend...

AITA for not forcing my daughter to do her friend's homework so she can graduate?

I (42f) have a daughter, "Mia" (17f) who attends online school, and her best friend is "Emily" (17f) who she met in the 6th grade.

Last year, Mia started slipping with her grades a lot. She did have trouble in school before, but it was usually just math and science based subjects that she struggled with, and reached out for help when she needed it.

This was due to a mental health crisis since our house had burned down, and a lot of valuable things were lost. Also varying health scares and surgeries with close family members.

I put Mia into counselling and I worked out a deal with her school, where in short, she'd only have to keep her grades passing or above passing in order to graduate.

Mia improved a lot after that, and she has been keeping her grades above passing ever since then. Her graduation is next month.

"Susan" (45f). Emily's mom had gotten the same deal, but Emily hasn't bothered trying to keep it up. Emily also has struggled in school, but from what Susan and my daughter says, she doesn't try to actually improve. Mia herself has tried to help Emily in the subjects she does well in (English and History) in the past and it did work for a little bit, but then her grades dropped again.

I was on the phone with Susan earlier, and she was venting to me about how if Emily didn't complete her overdue work and get her grades up in the next two weeks ( May 17th is their...

AITA for not inviting any of my family to my wedding and replying that I knew they'd be too busy when questioned about why?

I (27f) am the youngest in a family of five. My siblings are 10+ years older than me. We're all full siblings too.

I was the accidental pregnancy that happened when my parents were done having kids. I have often questioned if because I was accidental pregnancy, they never really wanted me and therefore we've ended up here. But of course nobody ever said that to my face.

That's just where my brain goes. There is a repeated pattern of everyone having plans or being busy when it's my birthday or something important happens in my life. With my siblings I understand more.

We were never close and they never pretended we were or that they cared. It's different with my parents. Some examples I can mention; \- I had a joint 16th birthday party with my best friend.

I was 16 that Friday, she was 16 that Sunday and the party was Saturday. My best friend's parents paid for both of us. Even invited my whole family.

My siblings never replied which I took to mean no. My parents said they had other plans even though they never told me that before when I had asked them about the party. They never said it when I originally invited them either.

They said my siblings would come to make up for it but they told our parents they had important jobs they couldn't get away from on a Saturday night. \- For my 18th birthday I invited them out to a family dinner. My siblings said they were all working that weekend....

AITA for exposing my family and possibly costing my stepmom her job?

I (19F) have two stepbrothers named Dave (23M) and Jack (25M). I have one half brother who is 9. Growing up with them was honestly a nightmare. I don't get along with them or their mother (my stepmom). My mom died before they came into our lives so she's really the only 'mother' figure I've ever had.

It'd be a whole lot get into, but in general, they bullied and teased me from the moment I met them. Their mom played favorites quite a lot and I would get disciplined for little things like leaving a light on while their sons lived in absolute filth and didn't shower for weeks. I was forced to get a job at 15 while my stepbrothers were allowed to live at home rent free, no job or college.

I moved out last year to stay at my step-aunt's (stepmom's sister). Almost everything I make goes to 'rent' a room from her and STILL contribute to chores/housekeeping for parts of the house that I'm not even allowed to use. Staying with her and still within my family's control is the only way they would let me keep in touch and see my little brother who I practically raised. They use him to threaten me every time I do something they don't approve of.

I went on a weekend trip with friends a few hours away. When I came back I realized that my entire family was waiting for me on the couch. Older brothers, stepmom, and my dad. All just sitting there waiting for me to walk in the door....

AITA for calling out my parents after they got my bio kid significantly more Christmas gifts than my adopted kids?

I (41f) have 3 kids 'Jane' (17f), 'Rachel' (16f) and 'Dave' (14m). Jane is my bio kid, Rachel and Dave are my husband's (46m) but I adopted them a couple of years ago. The way my parents have started doing Christmas gifts is they ask each one to send them a wishlist. Then they'll get a few things from there as gifts. So we had Christmas dinner and my parents gave all the kids their gifts. Jane had a huge gift bag as well as a fairly big wrapped parcel. Rachel and Dave each had small gift bags. Well, my parents got Jane EVERYTHING she had on her wishlist (about 10 books and one of those replica Messi shirts). Rachel got a pair of Tiffany studs and Dave got airpods. I was surprised, because my parents bought Jane everything she wanted but only got the others relatively small, but mainly just one item, when Jane got many. Obviously Rachel and Dave were a little upset. Rachel's I can kind of get because it's Tiffany, but Dave had the same Messi shirt on his wishlist that my parents got for Jane, but didn't bother for Dave. I told my parents what they did is really unfair, my mom said this is the gifts and what they thought was fair. I got kind of annoyed and replied it's a shame they don't think of Rachel and Dave as their "real" grandkids, but my got dad got pi**ed, and said we were greedy and to be happy with what they have. My sister said I need to apologize for my outburst,...

AITA for telling people exactly why my girlfriend wasn't at my brother's wedding?

I don't care if my family recognizes this, but using a throwaway because I don't want them following back to my regular account.

So first off, I'm a girl, and so is my GF of 4 years (obviously). We're both mid/late twenties, shared finances, live together, planning to marry and buy a house, etc. This is relevant later.

When my brother sent out wedding invites, only my name was on it. I asked Dan and he said that because of COVID, they were restricting numbers and no one was getting a +1. Fair enough, no problem.

Anyway, I get there on Saturday and everyone has a +1. Even my cousin who's only been casually seeing this guy for like a couple of weeks. It's obvious why. This isn't the first time GF's been treated differently, but it's the first time it's been blatant beyond plausible deniability. I'm furious, but I grit my teeth, smile, and get through the ceremony.

At the reception, my family immediate notices GF is missing and asks about her. I was going to say she was sick but then I decide you know what? f__k it. I just said "She wasn't invited. Gee, I wonder why?" I wasn't shouting, but it was pretty clear I was bitter. Shortly after that, my brother and his new wife come storming over. She's sobbing and he's whisper-shouting threats at me so I left.

Now my immediate family isn't talking to me except to yell at me, and the rest of my family isn't talking to them except to yell at them. My...

An HOA tried to bankrupt a disabled homeowner with $600,000 in fines. A Federal Jury just absolutely obliterated them with a landmark $2.5 million verdict.

Fellow HOA haters, grab some popcorn because this is the holy grail of absolute, unadulterated board justice. Sweet Lady Karma just paid one very deserving HOA a visit. We constantly post here about tyrannical, power-tripping board members ruining lives. But rarely do we get to see a corrupt condo association get completely and utterly financially dismantled in federal court.

**The Absurdity - The $600,000 Carpet Lie**
Meet the Rob Roy Country Club Village Condo Association near Chicago. They decided to systematically target a resident, Chris Kraszynski, who has severe health vulnerabilities and chemical sensitivities.

When she spoke up about their toxic exterior pesticide spraying, the board went full villain mode. They actually filed a fraudulent lawsuit against her with nearly $600,000 in fines, claiming she violated bylaws by removing her unit's carpet.

The twist? ABC7 Chicago investigative journalists literally walked into her home, pointed a camera at the floor, and proved the carpet was still physically sitting on the floor. They fabricated a half-million-dollar lawsuit out of thin air just to try and force a disabled woman out of her home.

**The Federal Payoff**
They thought they were untouchable because they had insurance and corporate lawyers. They thought they could drag out state-court litigation forever to bankrupt her.

But she dragged them into federal court under the Fair Housing Act (FHA).

A federal jury just sided with her completely and handed down a landmark **$2.5 MILLION verdict** against the condo association. Two. Point. Five. Million. Dollars. This isn't just a slap on the wrist; this is a catastrophic, precedent-setting financial judgment that proves...
