Rooted in Education & Heart 🌱
My journey into teaching started early. Right after high school, while living with my foster family (who are also educators), I stepped straight into life as a substitute teacher. I was instantly hooked. From preschool classrooms to running an after-school program for elementary students, I knew working with kids was my life’s calling.
That passion led me to pursue my teaching credential and dive headfirst into a Master’s program in Human Development. I have always been deeply fascinated by psychology, how the young mind works, and why the first zero to five years are so crucial in shaping a child for the rest of their life.
When life brought me to Nevada, my path shifted, and I opened Panther Valley Preschool so I could be right there with my own children. Years later, it is an absolute joy to watch little ones grow from babies until they’re ready for big-kid school—and seeing returning families brings me so much happiness!
Big Feelings, Gentle Guidance 🧠✨
During my Master's thesis, I fell completely in love with Dr. Becky Bailey and her Conscious Discipline framework. Her focus on learning to self-regulate our own emotions before we try to help our children changed everything for me.
As a generation of parents, we are unlearning old habits and learning how to hold space for big feelings. I carry this exact philosophy into our preschool every single day. We focus heavily on social-emotional skills, emotional intelligence, and giving children the unconditional love and safety they need to thrive during these foundational years.
Behind the Scenes: The Chaos & The Magic 🏡🌲
When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me knee-deep in nature with my four kids (all officially in school now!). We are completely obsessed with bodies of water, hiking, rock hunting, and anything that gets us outdoors.
Our home life is wonderfully full and bustling. We have a lively crew of chickens, two sweet dogs, and a cat who are all part of the family. My ultimate dream for the future? Building a small homestead and a tight-knit community where we all help each other out and raise each other’s children together. It truly takes a village!
