Please join the GLACLP Scholarship Committee in congratulating Elise Schaub on her Fall Internship Scholarship!

"I recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A.Ed. in Human Development and Family Science and a concentration in Child Health. I am currently completing a child life practicum in Cape Town, South Africa, before beginning my Child Life Internship at Children's National Hospital this fall. I am passionate about supporting children and families through challenging healthcare experiences by using play, education, and compassionate care.
Receiving this scholarship is an incredible honor and will help make my child life internship more financially accessible. These funds will assist with housing, transportation, and other living expenses throughout my internship, allowing me to focus fully on learning and serving children and families. I am excited to continue developing my skills in an environment where advocacy, family-centered care, and empowering children are at the heart of every interaction. My hope is to help children feel supported, build confidence as they navigate medical experiences, and bring comfort, connection, and moments of joy during some of their most difficult days."

Please join the GLACLP Scholarship Committee in congratulating Grace Lindsay on her Fall Internship Scholarship!

"My name is Grace Lindsay, and I am a second-year graduate student in Human Development and Family Studies at Ohio University with a concentration in child life. I am originally from Ontario, Canada, and I am so excited to further my education and passion for the field of child life in the fall with my 640-hour internship at Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Through both personal and volunteer experiences, I have seen firsthand the meaningful difference that child life can have on children and families while they are navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives, having the potential to transform a potentially frightening and unfamiliar situation. As someone who has had to navigate the healthcare environment frequently myself as a child, I can appreciate firsthand the stress and uncertainty that comes with a diagnosis or hospital visit. This inspired me to become a child life specialist, to be able to make even a small difference in other children and families’ lives.

I am beyond grateful to the GLACLP for this scholarship award. Making a major move by myself from Canada to the U.S. for both school and for my internship is a very rewarding and amazing opportunity, but it also comes with significant financial costs. This scholarship will help support the financial burden of moving to a new city in a different country and completing an unpaid internship, and instead allow me to focus my time and energy on learning and providing comfort and support to children and families."
