You thought you had missed your chance to teach for the Learning Center.
So did we.

But surprise! This is really it. Don’t delay.

Would you love to teach a preschool class at noon on Wednesdays? We’ve got lots of ideas, and if you reply by MAY 21, you can choose what type of preschool class you’d like to teach. (After that, we’ll choose the theme, but you still teach.)

There are so many great options for this fun age, including:

Hands-On Math
Small World: Geography Studies
Cook N Book: Make a snack to go with a delightful picture book

Teachers are paid $240 for the 12-week semester. No certification is required, and free babysitting is available for children ages 5 and under. And a big perk: teachers get to register before everyone else!

Classes meet Wednesdays at 124th & Center, September 2–December 2. This preschool class will meet at noon.

Join us in making homeschooling easier, richer, and more enjoyable. Also, it’s fun!

Interested? Reach out, or nudge that friend who just needs a little encouragement.

Don’t wait: the fall schedule is almost out, and we’d love for your class to be on it.

Important upcoming dates:

May 25: Fall Schedule Release and Teacher Registration
June 1: Volunteer Registration, 7 AM
June 15: General Registration, 7 AM

The Learning Center Discovers It Needed a New Boy, Not a New Car
And, of course, when I refer to new cars, I am speaking of NTM (New To Me). We skipped ahead a decade and a half from our previous car. “And, what a difference,” groans Eeyore. How do I hate thee, beautiful new car? Let me start with the fob.

Need we go any further than its name? No one wants to hear “Honey, have you seen my fob?" A pert Miss suggested that this particular word aversion (see “moist” or “phlegm” or “moist phlegm” for others) comes from its close sound association with fop.
Folly and moonshine! No one but a gaggle of homeschool girls even know that a fop is a vain, affected dandy, which we obviously also don’t need. See more about the uselessness of fobs at https://omahahomeschool.com/fobad/

What we do need is ONE BOY (13-19yo) for one hopeful lass in the Swing Dance class, who, failing the timely appearance of a chaperone, will be spurned and rejected, deprived of all reasonable expectation, and cast adrift in an unfeeling world with no one to turn to.
Boys, you can be a dashing hero without becoming a fop!

Also, there are some other wonderful classes left (for those of you wondering)

Good News: It’s Not Too Late. Bad News: It’s Close.
There are two kinds of people in the world: those who divide the world into two kinds of people—and those who don’t.

Here at the Learning Center, we divide families into three registration groups: 1) Those who are already asking about next fall 2) Those who trickle in during the bulk of registration 3)And finally, the last-minute rush

Which raises the obvious question: How do you know when the end has come?

If you’ll forgive the analogy, I’d say we’re at the stage of itchy ears seeking a preacher’s relief, but uncomfortably close to the appearance of Gog.

And for those of you who don’t want to wait until the second coming of the semester (February 4th), here’s where things currently stand:

Calling All Sewers & Bakers: Be a Homeschool Hero!
We need your help — quickly.

Our baking and sewing teacher had to bow out, and unless we find a replacement, 24 students (12 per class!) are going to be very disappointed.

If you (or someone you know!) can sew, bake, or happily learn alongside students, this might be your moment.

• Classes meet every Wednesda starting February 4
• At 124th and West Center
• $240 paid for the 12-week semester
• Free childcare available while teaching

The classes:
Sew Charming Cloth Dolls (ages 9–15) | 12:00–12:50PM

Baking (ages 12–19) | 2:00–2:50PM

You don’t need to be Julia Child or a couture designer — just willing, capable, and kind.

• Interested? Message us ASAP or email [email protected]
• Know someone perfect? Please tag them or share this post!

Help us save the day — and the semester.
