Today is our 25th wedding anniversary and I have been sitting with something all week.

You know what I have learned after 25 years of marriage and years of self awareness work? The two are completely connected.

When I did not know my triggers, I brought them home. When I had not done my inner work, my husband felt it. When I was operating from fear, insecurity, or unprocessed emotions, he was living with that version of me too.

And here is the funny part. I thought I was holding it together pretty well. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Turns out the people who love us most are the first ones to notice when we are not.

Self awareness does not just make you a better leader. It makes you a better partner. A better spouse. A better human to come home to at the end of the day.

25 years of growth. 25 years of choosing each other through every season. And honestly? The work we have both done on ourselves is the reason we are still standing here, still laughing, and still very much in love.

Happy anniversary to my person. ๐Ÿ’™

25 years with this man today.

Five kids. Six grandkids. Two businesses. More beaches, food places, lake days, campsites, and road trips than I can count. Grief beyond our imagination. Joy we canโ€™t explain.

And somehow through ALL of it, he still finds my key fobs, fills my gas tank, and loves me before I even know I need it.

Filler of my tank. Keeper of my keys. Love of my life.

Happy Anniversary, Babe. Best decision I ever made. We are seeing the fruits of all of the yesโ€™s when it wasnโ€™t always our first immediate answer and itโ€™s so worth it!

God is good all the time โค๏ธ

Have you ever left a conversation feeling like nothing actually happened?

You talked. You smiled. You exchanged names. But walked away feeling completely empty.

That used to happen to me more than I want to admit. And for the longest time I thought it was just how networking worked.

Until I realized the problem was not the people. It was how I was showing up.

I was performing. Still trying to impress. Still leading with my resume instead of my real self. And people feel that every single time.

Real connection is not about being the most interesting person in the room. It is about being the most genuinely interested one. Asking better questions. Actually listening. Showing up without an agenda.

That is when everything shifts.

Which one do you struggle with most? Drop it in the comments. ๐Ÿ’™

I said this on stage at the YMCA Leadership Conference and I meant every word of it.

You cannot workshop your way to an empowered culture. You cannot policy your way there. And you cannot value statement your way there.

Not their intentions. Not their policies. Their consciousness.

That is the work that actually moves the needle. And it starts with you.

Have you ever been part of a culture that felt truly empowered? What made it different? Drop it in the comments.

๐ŸŽฅ Carlee Mckee, thank you for capturing this moment so beautifully. ๐Ÿ’™

I want to say something to every woman who has ever made herself smaller to make others feel bigger.

You are not lacking power. You have just been taught to apologize for it. To shrink. To put yourself last.

But here is what I know for sure. That ends here.

๐—ช๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ ๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฟ is for the woman who is ready to stop playing small and start showing up fully. In her leadership. In her life. In every room she walks into.

Swipe through and tell me in the comments. Which one resonates with you most right now? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ’™

Okay can I let you in on something? ๐Ÿ‘€

Something big is in the works and I am so excited about it.

The website is getting a full refresh. New look. New feel. Same mission. Same heart. But an experience that finally feels like everything this work is truly about.

I cannot wait to show you what we are building. Stay tuned. ๐Ÿ’™

Some of my closest friendships began in grade school. Others in jr/high school and college, and a few in early parenting years with my corporate career. And then there are the ones that arrive later in life and become exactly what you need in this season.

Tonight, we made time to catch up on all the things, life, business, family, dreams, and challenges. While we share a passion for speaking, coaching, leadership, and building communities that help others grow, our friendship goes far beyond the work we do.

Iโ€™m grateful for women who cheer each other on, tell the truth with love, celebrate the wins, and show up for the hard stuff. We left tonight with full hearts and a promise to make time more regularly to just be together, share life, and stay connected.

Friendship is a gift, and these two are treasures for me later in life and Iโ€™m so grateful. โค๏ธ

Thank you my business badass besties!! Jodi Wacker-Krymuza and Tina Faye Schwahn and go follow their work and support them, you will love what and how you feel when youโ€™re in their presence!

Something I had to learn the hard way as a leader.

Not everyone thinks the way I do. Not everyone makes decisions at the same pace I do. And for a long time I made that their problem instead of mine.

Until I realized that ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ธ is not a weakness. It is one of the most powerful things you can do as a leader.

I shared this at the YMCA Leadership Conference recently and the response from the room told me everything. This is the conversation leaders need to be having more of.

When you build systems that work for your whole team and not just for you, everything moves better. Decisions get made. People show up prepared. And you stop wasting time wondering why nothing is moving.

That is not just good leadership. That is how you get more done with the time and energy you actually have.

Are you building systems for your team or just for yourself? Drop your answer in the comments. ๐Ÿ’™
