“You all are just making history all around.” 👑🤎

As the Urban Design Outreach Coordinator, she and The Fabric Lab staff welcomed our founding scholars into The Fabric Lab right on North 24th Street.

Annette shared their excitement about having Identity Prep in the space and reminded our girls that they were making a little more history that day as the FIRST school to visit The Fabric Lab.

Our scholars walked the four blocks from our building to The Fabric Lab, where Annette and the team shared some of the current projects they are helping bring to life, including the next phases of the North Omaha Trail.

They got a glimpse into how ideas become real projects through design, planning, collaboration, and community voice.

This is what we mean when we say learning from community wisdom!

Our classrooms are spaces where our scholars are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, explore new ideas, make connections, create, and discover just how much they are capable of.

At Identity Preparatory Academy, we believe brilliance already exists within every girl who walks through our doors.

Across subjects and throughout the school day, our girls are doing the work. They are learning about history and the world around them, strengthening their skills, sharing their thinking, and growing together.

We believe our job is not to create brilliance in our girls.

It is to recognize it, nurture it, challenge it, and give it room to shine. 🤎

“We want you to feel proud of the community that birthed you.”

— Veta Jeffery, North Omaha Visitors Center 🤎

Today, our scholars stepped outside the school building and walked through our own community to visit the North Omaha Visitors Center & Martha's Coffee Shop, where they were poured into and celebrated.

While learning important history they were also challenged with questions like,

“Who are you and who are you becoming?”

Our rich history, culture, people, stories of North Omaha, and connection to identity were all wrapped in the pride of the community we call home.

We are incredibly grateful to the North Omaha Visitors Center for opening its doors as partners in our learning, helping our scholars know the story of those who came before them, recognize the greatness that surrounds them, and begin to see themselves as part of what comes next.

This is what we meant when we said a “school without walls.”

Our community is our classroom.

A special thank you to OTB Donald Perry for answering the call and partnering with Identity Preparatory Academy to provide our scholars with FREE catered lunch EVERY Wednesday.

We are beyond grateful for this partnership, and judging by the smiles (and reviews) from our girls, they are too! Wednesdays with OTB are already becoming something our scholars look forward to each week.

It truly takes a village, and we are thankful to have OTB as part of ours. 🤎

And just like that… it became history. 🤎👑

Today marks the first day of school for our founding scholars and was officially proclaimed as “Identity Preparatory Academy Opening Day” by the Mayor of Omaha.

It took the village to get us here, and today, we felt the love of our community. We are deeply grateful for those who came to celebrate with us today and for those who were cheering us on.

This is just the beginning…

Delayed was never Denied 🙌🏾

Today, Identity Preparatory Academy received conditional State approval as a Rule 14 school, making history in our state, and our hearts are incredibly full.

Our community showed up when we needed it most. You filled the room with your powerful voices, covered us in prayer, and reminded us that we were never standing alone.

Thank you for believing in Identity Preparatory Academy and what is possible for girls in North Omaha. We will never forget how you showed up for us in this moment.

Today’s YES moves us one tremendous step closer to opening our doors. Now, we face our final and immediate challenge: closing our remaining funding gap.

Approval means we can move forward. Funding means we can open our doors with confidence!
