Hey parents and community members, here are some reminders as these cute friends and their families come to your door this weekend:

1. Not all children have the ability to say ‘trick or treat’, be patient but continue to speak to THEM instead of their parents.

2. A child may not be wearing a costume due to sensory sensitivities. Instead, you can comment things like, “You look like you’re having fun!” or “Thanks for coming!”

3. For some children, their motor planning can be delayed causing them to take a little longer to choose from a bucket full of candy. Giving them some time or giving them an option between two can make the decisions a lot less daunting.

The screen allows therapists to determine if a full evaluation is necessary.
