About 3 months ago I (Bejan) was contacted by UNO's International Studies and Programs' director and told about a very kind-hearted gentleman who just got back from his trip to Tajikistan. This gentleman (whose identity due to the ethical reasons was not disclosed to me) was so mesmerized by Tajik hospitality that he decided to offer his financial support to the Tajik students of UNO. Earlier today I was informed of a number of the members of our Association who received $1,500 scholarships directed towards covering their tuitions. Taking in mind the harsh economic conditions of our homeland, this generous aid will be of huge help to our students. As the representative of the Tajik Student Association and the people of Tajikistan at UNO, I would love to extend my gratitude to that gentleman, to the IS&P, and to everyone else who has been hard at work helping our students get educated. Hospitality is an essential part of the cultures of the entire Central Asia, and of the culture of Tajiks, specifically. Today, we, the children of those cultures, should strive towards preserving such lovely traits, so that those coming after us would be able to coexist together in peace and prosperity.

The Persian Language and What Makes It Fascinating 02/22/2016

The Tajik language is unique among Central Asian languages because of its Indo-Iranian rather than Turkic origin. The rich literary tradition of the Tajik language, its relationship to ancient Persian, and the changes it underwent during Tajikistan’s Soviet era are only a few of the points that make Tajik stand out as a distinctive and exciting language.Tajik is very similar to the modern Persian or Farsi language. In fact, most linguists consider Tajik, sometimes referred to as Tajiki Persian, to be an ancient form of the Persian language. Standard Farsi speakers have no difficulty understanding the Tajik language, which is also very similar to Dari, the form of Farsi spoken in Afghanistan.

The primary differences between Persian and Tajik arise from the fact that Tajik is in many respects a more archaic language and has retained more aspects of the ancient Iranian from which these languages developed.

The Persian Language and What Makes It Fascinating In this video I talk about the Persian language (Farsi, Dari, Tajik) and what`s fascinating about it. Persian often lives in the shadow of Arabic, but Persia...

Чи дори дуст харза душманеро?
Чаро чуи вафо аз бевафое?
Чи куби бехуда сард оханеро?
Аё савсанбаногуше, ки дори,
