🎉🌟 30 Ways to Say YAY — FINAL WINNER OF THE YEAR! 🌟🎉

This week, we are celebrating a group of superheroes who may not wear capes, but they absolutely keep Castelar running strong every single day. From early mornings to busy lunch periods, they have filled our students’ bellies and hearts all year long with kindness, care, and incredible food. ❤️🍎

They helped set our students up for success every morning with amazing breakfasts like breakfast pizza 🍕, donuts 🍩, breakfast sandwiches 🥪, cereal 🥣, and so much more. Then at lunch, they greeted students with warm smiles, friendly conversations, and legendary specials — including what may truly be the BEST Macho Nachos around! 🌮🔥

Their positivity, hard work, and love for our students shine through in every tray they serve. They make Castelar feel like home and remind us all how important kindness and care can be.

We are beyond lucky to have the most wonderful, amazing, caring lunch ladies anywhere. Thank you for everything you do for our students and staff each and every day. You are truly the heart of Castelar! ❤️🖤

As we get ready to wrap up a great school year, please note that **students should NOT bring backpacks on the last day of school, May 20th**.

This helps us keep things simple and ensures a smooth, fun-filled final day for everyone!

Some students shine quietly. Others light up an entire classroom. This week, we are celebrating two students who do both every single day. 💙❤️

Our first Cool Cardinal is a third grader who goes above and beyond in everything she does. She contributes thoughtful ideas in class, works hard to achieve excellence, and leads with kindness and maturity. She is always friendly, respectful, trustworthy, and willing to lend a helping hand. She isn’t afraid to ask questions when she needs support, and she treats everyone around her with fairness and care. She is exactly the kind of friend and classmate every school hopes for.

Our second Cool Cardinal from fourth grade has made an incredible impact in dual-language this year. She is dedicated to her learning while also supporting the learning of others around her. With a bright smile and a positive attitude, she has shown tremendous growth in her English skills and has excelled on every challenge placed before her. Even though she joined us partway through the year, she quickly became an important part of our Castelar family and represents what it means to be a true COOL CARDINAL.

We are excited for a fun-filled day at Castelar Elementary! Please help your student be prepared:

Don't forget our School as Hub (Early Childhood Family Engagement Center) Socialization Event! It will be tomorrow, May 19th, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM in Rm. 119. This will be for children newborn to 5 years old. It will be our last event of May. We hope to see you there.

One of our Cool Cardinals is a hardworking 4th grader who comes to school ready to learn and always gives her best effort. She asks thoughtful questions when she needs help, shows determination with her school work, and constantly lends a helping hand to both classmates and teachers. She helps simply because it is the right thing to do. Throughout this school year, she has shown tremendous growth and has become a reliable leader who demonstrates kindness and perseverance each day.

Our second Cool Cardinal is a wonderful 1st grader who consistently shows respect, responsibility, and kindness in the classroom. This student follows expectations, makes positive choices, and treats others with care. Whether working with classmates, helping others, or taking pride in learning, they set a positive example through teamwork, patience, and effort. Their actions help make Castelar a welcoming and supportive school community for everyone.

Some people walk into a building and instantly feel like part of the Castelar family. This week’s 30 Ways to Say Yay winner did exactly that.
When we needed someone to step up, he stepped in with consistency, compassion, and an incredible work ethic. The impact he has made on the students he serves this year has been remarkable, and his positive attitude shines through in everything he does.
With a smile on his face and kind words for everyone, students are always excited to see him because they know he truly cares. His dedication has made a lasting difference for both students and staff at Castelar Elementary, and we are so grateful for all he brings to our school community.
