The National Education Association recently awarded Pride Players a Human and Civil Rights Award.

The group uses improvisation to create songs, poetry, monologues, and skits that explore what it means to be a gay, le***an, bisexual, transgendered, or straight-allied teen in Omaha.

MTV Networks is casting LGBT youth aged 15-25 to appear in an upcoming special.

You should be open to sharing your stories and struggles on-camera. If interested, please email us at [email protected]. Please include your name, location, phone number & photo. Tell us about yourself and your current circumstances.

In order to get to know you a little better, please tell us about yourself & your life right now. What are the biggest obstacles you face right now? What are your relationships like with family and friends? Tell us what needs to get better.... And tell us what has gotten better for you. What's a typical day like for you? Do you ever feel down? Is there anything that you are afraid to do (but wish you had the guts to do) in the next couple of months? What, if anything, would you like to change about your life right now?

The more information that you can tell us via email, the better we get to know you! Thanks for your interest, and we look forward to hearing your story.

Nebraska educator, Ferial Pearson, is collecting stories of LGBT youth and their allies from around Nebraska to be published. All proceeds from the book will go to GLSEN Omaha and PFLAG (including Proud Horizons and Pride Prom). The book will be called Breaking the Silence.

Here are some things that might help get you started: Talk about what your life has been like. For example, how did you know you were not like other kids? When did you know? Describe times in your life that you might have overcome struggle of any kind...what and/or who got you through it? Why do you think it's important for adults to support LGBT youth? Why are allies important? What will your future be like? And so on.

The deadline is the end of November.

You can submit poetry, as well. Anyone can submit their story as long as they are 13 to 23 years old. Send it as a word attachment to [email protected]
