Thanks to Coach Jordan () and Coach Trey () for spending time in the CIC with our students discussing current events. Our students shared openly about how they are navigating the current cultural climate. They shared moments of solidarity, friendship, and support with and for one another. Here’s a look at the CIC programs for January.

🂡 ACE Up Your Sleeve
January 21st | 4-5pm | Creighton Intercultural Center- Join us for ACE Up Your Sleeve, an event to help students discover simple, practical mental health tools for managing stress. Using the ACE approach—Acknowledge, Comeback, and Engage—you’ll take part in fun activities like Unwind Jenga, Roll & Reflect, and Draw Your Calm to build resilience and find balance.
At the end, you’ll receive a playing card with helpful mental health resources to keep for future support. Don’t miss this chance to gain skills that will help you thrive in college and beyond!

🎶Sound Healing: A National Day of Racial Healing Experience for Students
January 21st | 5:30 - 6:30pm | Lied Education Center for the Arts- Creighton students are invited to a transformative experience led by Andrea Joy Pearson, founder of Joy Brings Light, where sound becomes a bridge to connection, presence, and renewal. In a world that often feels overwhelming, this is your moment to pause, reflect, and embrace the power of collective well-being. Let the vibrations of sound restore balance, reduce stress, and inspire a deeper sense of community.

Arrive a few minutes early to secure a comfortable spot and settle in. Participants may remain in the theater seats or recline on stage. Some mats will be provided on stage, though you are welcome to bring your own. You may bring a blanket or eye mask/pillow. Comfortable clothes are recommended.

📅 Registration is required by Friday, Jan. 17 at noon.

🪁Shaping History: Origami with Dr. Sharon Ishii-Jordan
January 23rd | 6:30PM | Harper 3048- Dr. Sharon Ishii-Jordan will take us through the traditional practice of Origami at Creighton University Harper Center (602 N 20th St.) This tactile-focused experience will give attendees a sense of beauty, history, and culture.

🎨Take Time Tuesday
January 28th | 4-5pm | Creighton Intercultural Center- Join us in the CIC for Take Time Tuesday: Relax & Paint. Unwind, get creative, and ease back into the semester with this calming canvas painting session. All supplies are provided—just bring yourself and your friends for an hour of relaxation and fun!

🎄 Support Operation Others! 🎄
Join us in helping provide meals to families in need this holiday season!

Here's how you can get involved:

💙 Donate Food: Drop-off boxes are at Harper Center (2nd Floor Atrium), the Student Success Center (Lower Reinert Library), and SCSJ (Brandeis Hall, Suite 202).
💌 Write Holiday Cards: Make cards for families receiving food deliveries! Supplies are available at the Success Center and CIC. (10 cards = 1 volunteer hour!)
🚗 Volunteer as a Driver: Help deliver food on Dec. 21, 9 AM - 2 PM. Register via Creighton Engage!
🗓️ Donations and card writing accepted through the semester. CIC is hosting a card-writing event for First Gen Leaders on Nov. 22!

🎉 Latina Welcome Night
October 8th | 5-6pm | Creighton Intercultural Center
The Office of Student and Family Support & Creighton Intercultural Center invites first year Latina students to a welcome night dinner. Enjoy a delicious meal, and connect with fellow Latina students in a relaxing environment.
🎲 Lotería
October 9th | 3:45-4:45pm | Skutt Ballroom
The CIC will be hosting Loteria in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. We'll be playing Loteria and be giving out prizes to the winners.
🏳️‍🌈 Jays Out Day
October 10th | 11am-1pm | Skinner Mall
In honor of National Coming Out Day and LGBTQ+ History Month, join the GSA and CIC in celebrating those who have come out and those who support them. We'll also be giving out rice krispies treats with rainbow sprinkles.
🍩 Donuts & Diversity
October 21st | 6-7pm | Swanson 5th Floor
The CIC is partnering with Swanson Hall to offer different kinds of donuts to students in Swanson. We’ll have a spinning wheel that we’ll be used to ask students questions about diversity.
🪶 Native American Round Dance
October 26th | 1-6pm | Harper Ballroom
This is an opportunity to experience a Native American cultural tradition that emphasizes unity, healing, and connection. The Round Dance brings people together through music, rhythm, and community spirit.
🎭 My Culture is Not Your Costume
October 28th | 11:30am-1pm | Skutt East Ballroom
The VIP Center & CIC are partnering together to offer a Lunch & Learn on the topic: 'My Culture is Not Your Costume.' This event will focus on cultural appropriation, especially around Halloween and other celebrations, and how to respectfully engage with and appreciate different cultures without reducing them to stereotypes or costumes.
💀 Día de Los Mu***os
October 30th | 6-8pm | Harper Ballroom
Join the CIC for a special evening event on Día De Los Mu***os! Come learn about the history and traditions behind this important celebration of life and death in Mexican culture. The evening will feature authentic Mexican food, live music, and a dance performance.

The CIC and Res-life partnered together to offer a food excursion to freshman in Swanson on Sunday. The students got to explore the Pan-Asian Market and get exposed to foods from across the globe. We appreciate all who came out and hope to do more events like this in the future!

The CIC will be having a couple tabling events next Monday to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. There will be Mexican hot chocolate and flyers with upcoming events. Hope to see you there!

It was great getting to host our Creighton Volleyball team this week for Coach's Corner! Hearing about their experiences and how they continue to impact others' lives was truly inspiring. 🏐💙
