Tomorrow, the Revenue Committee will hold a hearing on LB 509, Senator Sorrentino’s latest version of the Opportunity Scholarship Act.

LB 509 is a revised version of LB 753 from 2023, which the Legislature passed and later repealed, fearing repeal by the voters. In its place, last year lawmakers approved LB 1402, another voucher scheme—and thanks to the efforts of public school supporters and Nebraska voters, LB 1402 was successfully repealed in November.
