4th Grade Hitchcock Elementary

We had the best time learning about Nebraska history at the Nebraska History Museum and the State Capitol. Students even got a special certificate from Senator Merv Riepe!

4th graders became geologists today during our Erosion in a Tub lab! Students created landforms out of sand and explored how weathering and erosion can shape Earth’s surface by observing how different elements changed their landforms.

We wrapped up our Number the Stars Novel Study by visiting the Samuel Bak Museum!Students got to explore themes of hope through different paintings and make connections to the story. They also got to create their own vision board about what brings them hope.

Miss Bennett’s won Spirit Wear this week! We’re excited to have Gilbert in our classroom!!

Our 4th graders just completed their very first book projects! Students read a new book and created a poster or artifact to showcase their stories. We loved seeing their creativity and excitement shine through—and we’re excited for October’s projects!

We had a great day at Arbor Day Farm! Students learned how apple cider is made and how bees play a role in the apple growing process. It was full of learning, exploring, and fun!

We wrapped up our first chapter of science about electrical systems! Students got to explore solar energy by building a solar powered fan.

Students participated in Book Bakery this week! They explored both fiction and nonfiction genres.

On Friday, our classes explored Nebraska in a big way! We used a giant map to learn about population density, identified our state senators and representatives, and explored famous Nebraska landmarks. Such a fun way to bring our state to life!
