Tomorrow night, I’ll be reading poetry at Ekphrastic — an art + poetry show where language meets image, and something new comes alive between them.

I’ll be paired with Julie Jenowe’s artwork, offering a piece shaped in direct dialogue with her visual world.

It’s a beautiful lineup of artists and poets from across the region — and I have the honor of closing the evening.

Last month, my brother Carlyle (we call him CO2 🩵) had a sudden medical emergency and was admitted to the ICU.

and I immediately drove out to the Seattle area to be with family, and during that time we learned he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

He’s now out of the ICU, stabilizing, and beginning treatment. He’s currently staying with my sister Robin in Washington, and we’re preparing him for a move to California to stay with my sister Heidi, who is setup for his long-term care.

As you can imagine, there are many layers of expense involved.

Carlyle’s dear friend from college, Thea, created this GoFundMe to help support him with medical and living expenses so he can focus on what matters most right now.

My brother Carlyle Livingston is a kind and brilliant man, and spent a few decades doing miniature Fx on multiple blockbusters — you can find him on IMDB. 🎥
