Hello Riverside Families,
This is Principal Tony Perez, and hope you have had a great summer! As hard as it is to believe, August is already here and I am excited to welcome each of you to the 2026-2027 school year!
The first day of school is August 13th. Important upcoming dates include:
- Riverside School Office opens to the public on August 3rd
- Orientation / Schedule Pickup will be on Tuesday August 11th, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. Students can pick up their schedules and Riverside PTSO, Transportation, and Nutrition Services will be there with information, signups, and more.
- Riverside Back to School night will be Thursday August 27th, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM, starting in the cafeteria.
As you may have heard, Riverside will be moving from the trimester to a quarter/semester schedule this year. This will help students as they transition from elementary school and to be better prepared for high school. This means a slight change to progress report and conference dates. A copy of the 26-27 school year calendar is attached to this message.
Additionally, Riverside is making a slight adjustment to the daily bell schedule to accommodate other enhancements to the academic day. School will now begin at 8:35 AM, and will end at 3:09 PM (Early Release Monday will end at 2:09 PM). The cafeteria will still open at 8:00 AM for students to arrive and enjoy breakfast or otherwise prepare for the day. A copy of the Regular Day/Early Release Monday/Minimum Day bell schedule is attached to this message.
Riverside students will no longer be issued a school provided Chromebook to take home. All classes have been provided with a class set of Chromebooks for student use during their scheduled classes.
Beginning this year, PLUSD students will no longer be allowed to bring an E-Bike or E-Scooter onto their school campus. More information will be coming out, but please plan accordingly to help us support student safety.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to create an Aeries account to help your student(s) keep track of assignments, monitor attendance, etc. Additionally, all school and district communication will be provided using ParentSquare. We encourage all families to download the apps from the Apple or Google Play Store as soon as possible.
Student attendance is crucial for success. Students who have regular school attendance have higher levels of achievement and self-esteem. Therefore, our attendance goal is 95%. The Riverside community is stronger together. Be Here. Every Day. All Day. Please let us know if you need anything to help achieve this goal.
That's all for now...I hope you have a pleasant evening and enjoy the last week or so of summer break.
