🍎Each class, our PreK students share a family-style meal around our table. They help prepare, serve, and clean up their space, and learn where their food comes from. They come to learn the rhythm of the snack schedule and look forward to foods you might not think they’d eat!

📝We still have a few spots available for our PreK class (3-4 years old) this school year. If you’re interested in a gentle, one day a week introduction to learning for your child, please send us a message or sign up through our website: www.enchantedmountainwaldorf.com

So many excited things on the horizon for Enchanted Mountain Waldorf!

✏️Next Monday, August 31, is our first day of school! We are looking so forward to having all four classes in our learning space for the first time and getting started on a new year of adventure and growth.

⭐️Saturday, September 12 is our first Parent/Toddler class of the new school year; we currently have three classes scheduled for the fall semester. This is such a special time to set aside and learn about implementing the Waldorf philosophy in your homes and an early age. Swipe to the second slide for more information and email or message us to sign your family up!

🖍️ Oh my goodness, it was wonderful meeting so many of you at Open House yesterday! We were delighted to put names to new faces and see some of our returning friends, and are so excited to kick off the new school year in just two weeks!

📝 For those of you who didn’t make it to Open House, please be looking for an email from us THIS WEEK. We still have just a little more information to communicate before the beginning of the school year, including some important invitations and permission slips that have required dates attached.

🌼 P.S. We adopted these gardens in the spring in conjunction with .mountain.wellspring and they are looking so beautiful late in the summer! If you haven’t seen them in person, be sure to swing by the school and check them out.

🌿 “If a child has been able in his play to give up his whole living being to the world around him, he will be able, in the serious tasks of later life, to devote himself with confidence to the service of the world.” (Rudolf Steiner)

📚 Happy August, friends; we can’t wait to see everyone back in the classroom this month!

In honor of her 250th birthday, we remember the truths that America proclaims- “from her beacon hand glows world-wide welcome.” Unpacking the symbols and ideas in this poem with the kids was such a beautiful experience 🇺🇸

(The giggling at the end is because I was helping with motions and I messed up 😅)

🌼For our last block of the school year, we paired our study of Shakespeare with a study of poetry; our last poem form was found poetry. Each student received a copy of a different verse we memorized this year and they spent a quiet few moments choosing the words that most spoke to them. They switched verses with a classmate, who then wrote all the chosen words on index cards. I shuffled all the cards together and passed them out, and then the class worked together to compose their class poems.

🌱I would be lying if I said that these didn’t make me emotional. So different, but so much truth and beauty in each, and all from the same source material. What a beautiful metaphor for our world, indeed.

🌍Applications are open to join our classes next year- come be part of building this beautiful community! www.enchantedmountainwaldorf.com

☀️ “A little seed for me to sow, a little Earth to make it grow. A little hole, a little pat, a little wish and… that is that! A little sun, a little shower, a little while and then a flower!”

🐌 For our last block this school year our littles explored the magic of dirt! Worms, seeds, bees, snails, and all the best stuff that comes with growing. The youngest students at EMW were able to help clear and plant, and then observe the changes in our adopted gardens on North Union Street. We added paint rocks to our community garden and enjoyed planting seeds of their own to take home in planters they made at class.

✏️ Applications for the 2026-2027 school year went out to our waitlist families this week and will be open to the public next week- we can’t wait to meet you at EMW!

🧵Light on the textbooks, heavy on stories and handwork. Our students have needlefelted, crocheted, hand-stitched, painted, and illustrated their way through this semester. Handwork not only allows students to embody and live in the lessons they’re learning, it teaches the incredibly valuable skills of perseverance, pride in one’s work, and a flexible mindset, the belief that they can indeed learn new and hard things!

🌱If this shines a light on some of the things you’re looking for in a homeschool enrichment program, applications open to our waitlist families this Monday, 6/15; you can join the waitlist here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdsNl8NFBoVHkCoNF0e1trN5Kzrcbc8oVH_f79_t9tDEHMzxg/viewform?usp=header

🕯️If you’re intrigued by a Waldorf-inspired way of life, regardless if you’re a homeschooling family, stay tuned for our seasonal celebration offerings, open to the public starting this fall!

To finish our block on the Underground Railroad, our older class read the poem “I Dream a World” by Langston Hughes. The students were then challenged to each write their own stanza about the world they would dream up… here’s our completed poem, by our 10-13 year old students.
