Tutor of the Month: Dr. Al Haas
Dr. Al Haas brings more than 20 years of tutoring and teaching experience to PMTutoring. He holds a PhD and master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, a law degree from George Washington University, and an honors degree in chemistry from Duke University. He has taught SAT, ACT, LSAT, and MCAT preparation, along with college courses at Monmouth University, Rutgers University, and the University of Maryland. Dr. Haas especially enjoys helping students overcome learning challenges, anxiety, and a lack of confidence while ensuring effort and accountability are prioritized and balanced. He brings a distinctly quirky and upbeat personality to his sessions, complete with dad jokes, memorable tangents that drive points home, and thoughtful real-world comparisons that help students feel comfortable and engaged. Outside of tutoring and engineering consulting, he enjoys playing video games, particularly MMOs and simulations, reading science-fiction thrillers, watching well-written television, and occasionally embarking on a good adventure.
