Meet Peanut Butter the Hamster 🐹

He would like to join you for a week of summer fun to help you keep up your reading skills during the summer.

He will be available June 9th to August 2nd.

You will get all the supplies you need to take care of Peanut Butter for 1 week.
In return you will read a book about Hamsters and Draw us a picture with a story telling us about all the fun you have had!

• Pick up on Mondays and Drop off on Saturday mornings before Noon.

On April 20, 2023, 107 students from grades 3-8 competed in Okeechobee County Schools 2023 Battle of the Books competition. Preparation for this event begins the first day of school and continues throughout the school year. Congratulations to our grade level winning schools:

South Elementary School Third Graders
Everglades Elementary School Fourth Graders
Seminole Elementary School Fifth Graders
Osceola Middle School Middle Grades

We also held a “Survivor” round in which students who read ALL 15 books competed for the ultimate honor. Congratulations to Leah Small for being our Battle of the Books Ultimate Survivor!

Congratulations to the winning class for the Okeechobee County Schools 2023 Spring Trophy Challenge. Manal Yamin’s kindergarten class won the challenge! Congratulations! Her students have used the Footsteps2Brilliance, program to read 653,785 words this year! Way to go!

Congratulations to Monica Coury’s kindergarten class for winning Okeechobee County Schools Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. Winter Trophy Challenge. The students work hard within the program each week and accrued 62 hours of literacy! Congratulations!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Yamin and her kindergarten class at Central Elementary for winning the Footsteps2Brilliance, Inc. Fall Trophy Challenge for 2022! Her students completed the assigned book The Full Moon Parade, the Book Buddies Activities, and Games with the highest completion rate in the district. Students received certificates and treat bags to enjoy as they continue reading along with the program. Way to go! 🏆⭐️🥇

It is not too late for caregivers to register for these monthly sessions. Registration is ongoing and those that register will receive the follow-up recordings and materials, even if they can't attend. Our next session is coming up on November 17, 2022 @ 10 PT / 1 ET. The topic is Making Reading Fun! We will cover fun and easy things that families can do with Footsteps2Brilliance to create strong reading foundations in their children birth - 3rd grade and beyond. Future sessions include writing and math / science development.

Congratulations to our VPK class with Ms. Crystal Garcia and Ms. Erica Rosales who won the district-wide Pre-K Footsteps 2 Brilliance Beginning of the Year Challenge!!! 100% of their students turned in signed parent pledges and set up parent accounts within the program. Today, visitors from the district office presented the traveling trophy, certificate, and treat bags to their class.

Way to go, Tigers!!! 🏆
