Delicious!
FFT has developed five inter-related program components with associated curricula that integrate California State Academic Standards.
We work to promote healthy school food and nutrition, create amazing school gardens and impart agricultural and environmental literacy to the students of Ojai Unified School District Food for Thought (FFT) was organized by a group of concerned parents, educators and growers who first came together in the spring of 2002 to improve the nutritional status and food awareness of children in the Ojai

Stay cool friends 💚
*Helping Students Stay Cool and Hydrated*
As temperatures in the valley will likely climb to 100F today and throughout the week, to beat the heat ☀️ we are providing frozen popsicles and extra bottled water at our school sites. Our hydration stations provide filtered water at each school site as well, and we are encouraging students to hydrate often.

You can find us Thursdays at the Ojai Community Farmers Market. We offer many fun and enriching activities for children, similar to what we teach in the classrooms throughout Ojai Unified School District. We have been digging in compost to find worms, done some healthy meal planning, planted tomato seedlings, and done so much more. Come say hi Thursdays between 3pm-7pm in the Chaparral courtyard downtown Ojai. Ojai Community Farmers' Market Ojai Unified School District

All 2-3-4 grade students of Ojai Unified will be bringing home the final issue of Edible for Kids this week. A HUGE thank you to the Ojai Valley Lions Club for funding our April and May issues!
The Edible for Kids booklets were created via a grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture to Ocean View School District and Edible Ojai Ventura County. Food for Thought Ojai was able to fund the printing of additional copies as part of our Nutrition Education program this year. Fingers crossed for more of this in the future🍊🥑🍅🥕🌶 Parents! We would love to hear from you! Did you get a chance to look through these booklets? Try any games, puzzles, or recipes with your children? Please leave feedback in the comments👇👇
As a reminder we also have copies available at our booth at the Thursday Farmers market every week!

It was a pleasure to work with Prologis and Meiners Oaks PTSA on the long awaited orchard installation! It was a hot day, but this team was up to the task and helped to plant 32 new fruit trees to welcome “Milo’s Orchard” Thank you to our staff assisting with the organization of this project along with the wonderful parents, grandparents and community members (Dan Malloy on the tractor.)

Take a look at these beautiful scenes from our recent 5th farm field trips. Grace, Ally, and Ruby shared lessons about chickens, natural dyes, the environmental footprint of our clothing choices, the water needed to grow our food and of course goats! THANK YOU Poco Farm. After a couple of years away from the farm it felt so GREAT to be back with students, teachers, and parent chaperones.
