Congratulations to the Concord, CA Blue Devils on another DCI World Championship won last night in Indianapolis, IN. And the same with much gratitude to all the drum & bugle corps who spent the summer traveling, competing, and entertaining all across the country.

I am pleased to share the launch of TrumpetQuest, "your strength and conditioning coach for trumpet." TrumpetQuest is an online program for trumpet players that provides them a path to stick to the day-to-day fundamentals that make for strong chops and a solid sound. Play along with videos that begin with the simplest interval work, and progress through the entire series of short workouts that eventually cover two octaves, resulting in greater strength and flexibiilty throughout your range.

Great for students who need to develop the good habit of daily practice fundamentals.

Here is the philosophy behind TrumpetQuest!

You’ve got a band director to give you a place to play and a reason to play.
You’ve got a trumpet teacher to work your technique, your embouchure, your fingers.
We are your strength and conditioning coach. Playing trumpet is a lot like being an athlete. You need to build up the muscles, build up the endurance. You need to get strong so you can play the way you really want.
And just like lifting weights, swinging the bat, or doing layups, it takes reps to build up the consistency and confidence, so every time you pick up the horn you can do what you’re asking yourself to do.
That takes motivation. We know this is the hard stuff, and we’re here to get you through it! We’re here to keep you playing and help you achieve all your goals and dream as a musician and a trumpet player.
Trumpet players are a special breed. This horn is tough. We square off with it every day, and take the challenge. But once we master it the best we can, the rewards are great! Audiences love to hear us, playing loud or high or taking that soaring solo. This is our Quest.
