The Black Indigenous People of Color (People of the Global Majority) Parents and Caregivers affinity space is an intentional group gathering where we can share stories as a means of connection to break the isolation of our experiences, to help develop personal and family resilience, and to share tools & approaches for navigating racism, bias, bullying, and cultural isolation in the context of education spaces and our life at large.

We honor the importance of affinity spaces in anti-racism work as a means of empowerment, harm reduction, and fostering community resilience and are responding to the request from parents and caregivers in the community to deepen this work.

We intend for this gathering to be a place to heal, affirm, and support.

Seeds of Belonging: Inclusive Early Childhood Spaces seeks to develop a Parents and Caregivers of Color affinity space with the intention to share stories and experiences as a means of connection, to break the isolation of our experiences, to help develop personal and family resilience, and share tools & approaches for navigating bias, bullying, exclusion, and cultural isolation.

We honor the importance of affinity spaces in anti-racism work as a means of empowerment, harm reduction, and fostering community resilience and are responding to the demand from parents and caregivers in the community to deepen this work.

We value that our Valley also has many white parents of children of color, including the experience of transracial adoption and in*******al marriage and partnership, and we seek to create an additional affinity space for White Parents of Children of Color and White Parents of White Children to also meet in alliance space with the shared goal of focusing on antiracism approaches to parenting.

🩷🌱 CAN YOU GIVE A GIFT FROM THE HEART? 🌱🩷 As our 2023-2024 school year comes to a close, we thank each of our generous community donors, and workshop participants. Together we make the road by walking it. In order to offer affordable local programming for the upcoming school year we are launching our fundraising drive with the goal of raising $10,000.00 to deliver thoughtful programming to educators and caregivers, and arts based education sessions for youth in the 2024-2025 school year. ✨ We know that inclusion and belonging directly impact a child’s sense of self, confidence, and therefore social, emotional, and academic success at home and at school. With the right tools; including representational resources such as art supplies, and bandaids, educators and caregivers can create antiracist ecosystems in their classrooms and care spaces that allow children to see human diversity respected and accommodated. Our Seeds of Belonging Antiracist Resource Library inspires and supports this work in our local schools and community.✨

✨ We know that inclusion and belonging directly impact a child’s sense of self, confidence, and therefore social, emotional, and academic success at home and at school. With the right tools; including BOOKS educators can create an antiracist ecosystem in their classrooms that allows all children to learn the language of respect for difference, how to appropriately name injustice, and see themselves and peers reflected in empowering ways. Our Seeds of Belonging: Antiracist Library inspires and supports this work in our local schools and community.✨

✨ It has been a big beautiful programming year for us at Seeds of Belonging: Inclusive Early Childhood Spaces. We were able to offer our antiracist education professional development sessions across our local Ojai Valley public and independent school sites. ✨
