Chi Upsilon Chapter - Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges.

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

There’s officially one week from Christmas! And 2nd to last Theta Thursday of 2025! 🎄🎊🎁

Have you ever wondered who is behind Theta Thursdays on our account? Well, as an Christmas present to you all, you’re about to find out!

Hello! My name is Rebekah W and I’m the Chi Upsilon chapter’s Vice President of Public Relations! I’m the manager of our chapter’s social medias and I’m normally the officer behind the camera! Anytime you see a ✨ on one of our posts, then you know it’s from me!

A little bit about myself: My goal is to spread light and love to anyone I meet. I’m a writer and a voice actor! I’m also an avid theater kid and have a huge passion for singing and performing. Most recently, I was a top finalist at the Miss Illinois Pageant at National American Miss! I’m really passionate about using my voice to advocate for those who aren’t being heard. I have a bunch of chronic illnesses, one of which being POTs (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) but I try to never let them stop me from chasing after my dreams! I hope you know that you matter, you have a purpose, and that your dreams are worth chasing!

Happy Theta Thursday! It’s time for another Officer Spotlight!
In case you’re new, an Officer Spotlight is an informative post about one member of our Officer Team. Today’s officer in the spotlight is our awesome Project Chair, Griffin Hoover.
Griffin oversees both our College and HiA Project, making sure everyone stays on track and none of our information gets lost in the chaos. Griffin is also a very comedic person and never fails to make us laugh. College might be stressful but Griffin always finds a way to be the comedic relief we need.

Carlos is an incredible teammate who always is there to help out anyone in anyway he can. Carlos is also in charge of recording the minutes for each of our meetings. Without him, we wouldn’t be able to keep track of our progress!

Happy Theta Thursday!

Our PTK chapter has been hard at work on our HiA project! This Saturday, we will be presenting our information on AI and its impact on Mental Health at the Huntley Public Library at 3:30pm.

We hope you can join us and learn about the dangers of AI in relation to mental health and learn how to use AI responsibly!

“Leaders are ordinary people that took that brave step to represent a group bigger than themselves.”

This past weekend, our Chapter got to attend the Leading Illinois Together (LIT) Conference, and we all walked away with some great memories and some even greater understanding about what it means to lead.

From presenting Ed Forums to Attending General Sessions, to stopping at The Rootbeer stand on our way home, the Chi Upsilon chapter had a lit time at LIT!!!

Another spooky Theta Thursday is upon us and this time with another Officer Spotlight!
In case you’re new, an Officer Spotlight is an informative post about one member of our Officer Team. Today’s officer in the spotlight is our favorite officer’s favorite officer, Dottie Dotson!
Dottie is our chapter’s Vice President of Member Communications. One of Dottie’s responsibilities is sending out our Chapter Meeting reminders each week and I can tell you with certainty that Dottie puts their all into making each reminder informative and just a little bit whimsical. 🤣🤪

It’s officially spooky season! 🎃

Next week, the Illinois Region will be having a Leadership Conference October 10th & 11th so be on the lookout for a post that following Monday with a recap of our chapter’s adventure!

Another note: Today our chapter is hosting a Fellowship event called Show Us What You Got! Join us for a night of silly student presentations! Present one yourself or come sit and listen.
This event is open to all MCC students so please join us today @4:30pm!
