Even the guides who lead high-altitude expeditions need mentors in their corner showing them the path. 🏔️✨

Last night in Verona, Adi and I caught up with two people who have been absolute game-changers in my personal and professional life: Alessia and her husband, Iacopo.

You might know Alessia as the force behind (my ballet teacher), but together, she and Iacopo are also my business coaches through . Not only have they been essential in scaling Blue Side Adventures and keeping my ballet journey alive, but they’ve become deep friends along the way.

The four of us went on a "recon mission" through the streets of Verona last night to lock in our restaurant for our Dolomites team dinner tonight. Between endless laughs, incredible food, and late-night gelato, it was a beautiful reminder of the power of mentorship.

The truth is, you can't guide others into new territory if you aren’t willing to be coached yourself.

Just as Alessia and Iacopo push me to level up as a coach and entrepreneur, my mission at Blue Side Adventures is to be that coach and guide for our veterans and first responders.

Hanging up the uniform or stepping back from high-stakes service often leaves a massive void in purpose, identity, and camaraderie. Transitioning into "what's next" can feel like navigating a mountain without a map - and that's where having a coach changes everything. I build our expeditions to give veterans and first responders a new mission to throw themselves into, helping them rediscover their purpose, resilience, and passion for adventure outside of their service roles.

Whatever mountain you’re facing in your post-service life, you don't have to navigate it alone. You just need the right crew and a coach to help you find the route.

If you’re a veteran or first responder ready to reclaim your purpose, push your boundaries, and step into high-alpine adventure, I’m here to coach you through it. Drop me a DM to see what we offer and how you can join our next adventures. 🥾🏔️

Two days ago, three of them had never set foot on a 14er. Today, they standing on top of two more. 🏔️⚡

Talk about taking resilience to the next level. For Advanced Altitude Check, our team of five pushed past the fatigue, embraced the high elevation, and stood on the summits of both Mount Cameron (14,238’) and Mount Lincoln (14,293’)!

At Blue Side Adventures, this is the core of what we do. We don’t just take people up mountains; we help veterans, first responders, and those that support us, discover the untapped strength they’ve carried inside all along.

When you strip away the daily noise and place people in high-altitude environments, something powerful happens. Doubt turns into momentum. Strangers turn into a tight-knit team. And the summits that once felt completely impossible suddenly become stepping stones to the next big peak.

Huge congratulations to this crew for backing up their first summit with two more in a single push. Proof that when you have the right team beside you, there is no limit to how high you can go.

Onward and upward! 👊✨

Ever notice how the week before a major expedition, your left knee suddenly starts twanging for no reason, or you find yourself re-packing your bag for the 14th time?

Welcome to the Taper Tantrum. 🧠💥

When you cut your training volume right before an adventure, your brain undergoes a mini neurochemical shift. Without the daily dose of high-output endorphins, two wild things happen:

1️⃣ Brain Hyper-Vigilance: Your central nervous system turns the volume UP on internal sensations. That normal joint creak or tight calf muscle? Your bored brain amplifies it into a "phantom injury."
2️⃣ Fuel Loading Heavy-ness: Your body is actively repairing muscle tissue and locking in carbohydrate stores for Summit Day. Stored fuel holds water, which can make you feel temporarily sluggish or "heavy." It’s not lost fitness-it’s premium fuel in the tank!

The Golden Rule: DO NOT try to squeeze in "one last hard workout" 3 days before a climb. You can't cram fitness, and last-minute hard efforts only show up on trail day as inflammation and depleted energy.

Right now, our teams for Altitude Check, Advanced Altitude Check, Dolomites, and Everest Base Camp are navigating this exact neurochemical ride.

Trust your training, respect the taper, and let your body build its lightning. ⚡️
